Dinan S55 (F87 M2C) Flash Pre-Release / Haus Party
Fashionably late to the party is kind of our thing. S55 Flash tuning from Dinan is no exception and is now right around the corner from a dealer release. However you don't have to wait and beat that wait by a full month if you want it bad enough. Massive power increases, warrantied and unwarranted options, no limiter and multiple octane maps to choose from are among the various options. For those that want to transform their vehicle well ahead of the public release and get the flash installed you can do so at 'Haus Party,' October 12th, here at our campus in Opelika, AL. While you're here, intermingle with hundreds of other Euro car enthusiasts, take a facility tour, watch dyno pulls, learn all about what makes Dinan and APR tick or simply ogle the cornucopia of beautiful shop and customer vehicles in attendance. Want to be at the head of the line? Register for Haus Party at: bit.ly/HausParty2019 Want to learn more about specs, pricing upgrade paths? The vast majority of the questions that will surely come up are addressed in the S55 Flash Guide below so we recommend consulting that short guide before asking any additional questions. S55 Flash Guide (pricing, options, upgrade paths, basic power info): bit.ly/S55-FlashGuide Included at the bottom of the post are 3 of the most common mapping options but consult the full graph sets linked below if you are looking for one of the other options (91, 100, and 104 or octanes as well as the base warrantied option). That said they still show clear improvements with each successive step. Stock 91 – 12.197 @ 113.76 91- 11.69 @ 118.84 mph 93- 11.62 @ 119.96 mph E85- 11.314 @123.6mph Still have questions? The question everyone is going to ask.... Will this work on the latest locked version of the ECU?

Short answer though is its not an OBD2 flash for the new version. ECU would need to be sent in to Dinan to be backdated to allow the flash. We are working on a field kit where this can all be done at the dealer but that will take some time. At the Haus Party event though as an example we can do the process with the ECU still in the car. That said we are still actively pursuing alternatives where the backdating is not necessary and it can be a straight OBD2 flash. There also is a chance (albeit small) that that option may be available for the dealer release in early November. |

Is there going to be a flash tune for the N55 engine? I haven't tuned my M2 yet because of warranty concerns, and would do it in an instant if Dinan had one available!

Nope. Will be offering both options and then some. The amount of different types of offerings in the pipeline I personally find a bit ludicrous but everyone / market has different needs and desires. Kind of taking the BMW approach and making a model for everyone. lol

As for the naming conventions --- its a bit different than traditional Dinan practices and is being morphed into something a bit more accepted in the rest of the market (as well as internally with our sister company APR). Going forward warranted tunes will have the Dinan+ moniker attached to them (like APR+ for their warranted tuning). These files would basically be traditional Dinan files that everyone is used to just labelled with a different name. The Stage 1 and in some cases 2 and 3 files will have the limited warranty which is a limited lifetime warranty against defects in the software, and to provide free updates and reflashes as they become available. Labor, consequential damages or shipping charges are not included in the warranty and are at the discretion of the place of install. In short if something breaks its not our responsibility to fix it. You have many more options with the full stage files that could be abused so therefore we would not want to be responsible for potential negligence (running 87 octane with the E85 map as an example). So you have 2 avenues to choose from with Dinan now. 1. The traditional file that has the factory matching warranty that is a bit more subdued and has additional cost associated with it for that "insurance" policy. OR 2. More aggressive files with more potential gains and flexibility for less price but without the warranty like the vast majority of the aftermarket. The choice is ultimately yours to make. |

My M2C was built in December of 2018, but may have had been upgraded to the locked version a couple of months ago. Is there a way to tell if it has been updated?

There is a how-to guide on finding out what version of software you have loaded on the car a few threads down that works. Otherwise just going to a dealer and having them scan it/attempt install (when the dealer release occurs at least). |

Looking forward to the tune will this need to be installed by the dealer, or can we do it ourselves? |

I’m definitely interested as I have the older dme sw.
I have a 6MT was this tune optimized for a 6MT? Not sure all the testing was done on a DCT or not. What dealers would be able to install this? Will this product have a warranty if a mechanical issue arises in the future and the bmw dealer plays hardball and denies warranty due to the tune? What HE is needed? We are currently in the process of contacting the dealers and working out which dealers are willing to partake on the new program but generally speaking most of the larger Dinan independent shops will do so. The dealership side will be much more spotty as removal of the DME, when it needs to occur, will be shunned by some. All the testing was done with the Dinan HE but in theory any one will work with varying effectiveness. For the warrantied options you are much better off going with the Dinan HE to eliminate gray area blame though. |

We have opted only to allow for the burble intensity allowed by the factory mapping in later generation S55 cars (on the M2C it is unchanged). Reason for this is to preserve CAT life as well as adhere to emissions since the goal is still 50 state legality.

Silly question..... With this Dinan w/OE warranty flash tune, does that mean one can just drive the car to any BMW dealership in North America without any issue of claiming factory warranty? No need to put the car back to stock map annually, correct?
