When the Evo magazine article leaked and estimated the Competition to be £47,260, I was correct when I did the conversion and estimated it to be 60k USD.

Same extrapolation gives an estimate of 85k for the CS.

I did some poking around the interwebs using Google translate. It would seem that a well equipped M2c in a Euro market is €75k. It can be had cheaper, but the CS is going to be well specced out of the gate. With the estimate list price of €95k we see +27% for the CS.

A well equipped Canadian model was 71kca. Estimated Canadian price is 90kca. Again +27%

A well equipped US spec would be around $63k. Add 27% we get $80k

All of these specs appeared to include DCT. So 77k to 83k seems like a reasonable landing zone depending on if the estimated Euro and Canadian list prices include DCT.

~$85k is my absolute limit, or ~$25k more than my current M2C. Even at this price point, I'm not really happy, as a super low mileage GT4, 911's are all at this price point. But having back seats for my little minions is the big deal breaker.

I watched that Glenn's car collection YouTube channel, where he discussed the price. He believes the price will be over $100k haha

I agree. Let's hope the base is under $90K. Something in the $80's would work. The M3 CS base was about $98K. Surely M2 CS has to be less than this. After all, M2 Competition was about $10K less than M3 Competition.

Back in 2003: E46 M3 base price (6MT) + 56% = E46 M3 CSL base price (SMGII) (€85K).

Question is whether the OG is base, or is the C the base when discussing M2CS for pricing?

Edit:. All roads still seem to lead to 80k +/- a bit

Honestly I would say $70k is the right price in the US if the M2C is $60k. The upgrades to me are worth about $10k. I know there is no chance they will price it that way, but that’s my perceived value.

If I were to venture a guess on what the actual price would be, I would agree that it would be $85k.

$85K makes sense to me as well. Need to bake in some profit. Plus $85K is cheaper than base 992 911 which is $99K before options. No way they can price CS as much as 911. Porsche guys on Rennlist laugh when someone mentions any M2 on 992 911 forum. I know I mention 911 a lot but that is often looked at as the pinnacle of sports cars.

Is there going to be some online reveal and press release for the CS in early November? Or do we have to wait until November 22 for the LA Auto Show?

This is seriously such a special car, I won't mark it anywhere lower than $125k. Anything lower is seriously a steal! Think of it like this. The FIRST M2CS. That will never happen again in history. The heritage alone is worth the price. In a few years, it will be worth $225k if you keep it low miles and garage kept, all original parts and even original tires and oil... To anyone who buys one, make sure you get a blackstone oil analysis of the original oil, this way in a couple years, if you decide to sell such a gem, you can prove it's still on original oil.

My guess has been 80-85k and I’m sticking with it.

That’s too high in my opinion too - if this car approaches 90k, a GT4 and a naturally aspirated, 8k redline isn’t much further. To be compelling, this car needs to be safely below 80.

Sadly,. Even at 90k there isn't anything else out there that really entices me. I think I'd rather step back and get '14 991 in the 60s and beat the hell out of it until a new version of the C8 comes out.

Price should be similar to a non-zcp M4 (F82) with similar options, if MSRP is respected, so about $75K

I am looking at 981s again myself...or maybe a 991 GTS (which would be on the higher end of what I want to pay).

Having owned a P car and knowing that there's an appreciable difference between one and an M car, I am definitely more willing to go higher up the price range for a Porsche.

Given that the CS will be hard to get and pretty expensive (for a BMW, and in my opinion), I am not seeing it as a viable option in the 80-85K range.

I think with the $80-$85k range, there are not many new cars at that range that match the CS. GT4 and 911 start at $100k. Used cars obviously leave a lot more options.

It's fair to say that, apart from engine changes (40hp power bump compared to the M2 Competition) and all sorts of engineering fine-tuning, the M2 CS comes stock from factory fairly kitted out with several goodies:
  • that are optional on the M2 Competition;
  • or that feature in the M2 M Performance Parts back catalogue;
  • or that are bespoke M2 CS parts which will not be for sale (except as spare parts for those who can prove that they are a genuine M2 CS owner) or unavailable for M2 Competition (for example Adaptive M Suspension).
Less options in the M2 CS options list compared to the M2 Competition options list + a couple of M2 Competition options are not available on the M2 CS. Think a bit like what Porsche offers as total package for its GTS models.

Would be interesting to know where you land price-wise if you'd try to kit out an M2 Competition with every single part and tune featuring on the M2 CS (parts + labor). And even so, no matter how well-crafted the aftermarket lookalike project emulates an original M2 CS, it will always be regarded as a replica which won't match the value of an original M2 CS featuring the complete package straight from the factory (+ factory warranty). But no problem at all for me if the replica owner is perfectly happy with his car.
