The 2017 Honda Civic Type R 07:43.8 Ring lap time was quite an achievement. Deserves our respect. Performed by Honda, dry track with an optimum ambient temperature for the best tire and powertrain performance, full floating roll cage, removed infotainment and removed rear seats.

But...

I too give Honda props. Even with all the quasi mods they did for the time, it's impressive. I usually give type R owners a thumbs up when I see them. A lot of them appreciate this from an M4 driver in a market like LA where most luxury/sport/premium car drivers don't really have a clue other than the badge/trim level.

But...
the rear seats and infotainment are not relevant they were removed to compensate for the added weight of the roll cage

I dunno man. I like the CTR, but that seems pretty relevant.

That is not a bad lap time at all. For reference her is my lap at Hockeheimring. 2017 M2 all stock save for PFC08 brake pads and SRF fluid. It was my first time there so there are a few seconds I can save still for sure.

My best lap was 2:07.

No third party has been able to get near that time with a stock production CTR.

In real life, the Civic Type-R is not in the same realm of performance than an M2, let alone an M2cs. I come across quite a few Civic Type-Rs at the track and they are more like moving chicanes than anything else

Its all cool, car does look a bit better than the F82, but definitely dated beside the new 135i, which is front wheel drive. I mean it looks like it needs a walker.

but performance its not bad to have all the used parts from the GTS or M3/4. Good job.

G82 is where its at yo. Big grills are coming for everyone.

But...
Michelin Cup tyres make a huge difference on any properly sorted car.

Kinda lame they did not pick a DCT as that can easily account for a 1 second of the diff.

How did you arrive at that number? (not that mine isn't a guess either)

According to Wiki an average manual shift is 0.5s and a DCT 0.1s so 3 shifts already saves you over a second. (yes I know that is not 100% correct as the car is still rolling while the clutch is out).
