You know, everyone thinks this, but it's actually not true (for acceleration).

The fact is when you change to a wider tire you aren't adding any contact patch at all, you're just changing the shape, and that wider shape is only going to be better for cornering, not acceleration.

What's happening with everyone saying that they are getting less slippage when they move to the wider tires in the rear is that they are comparing new, and usually stickier tires than what they had on the car to begin with.

Having said that, the 265 on the front will definitely change the cornering dynamics, but the 295 or even 305 on the rear will not give any better acceleration.

You basically just said there is absolutelly no difference in accelerating wheter you have 165/60 or 295/30 under the car, M2 in this case.

There is, and there isn't.

There are minimums and maximums, of course, and I don't know what those are for the car, I'm just saying that changing from a 265 to a 275/285/295/305 in the exact same tire with the exact same pressure isn't going to produce any appreciably better acceleration times, only better cornering. You're really just adding weight.

For forward acceleration you want a contact patch that is long front-to-back. For lateral grip you want a contact patch that is wide side-to-side.

You don't have to take my word for it, look at any top fuel dragster tire video.

If you want better acceleration, lower the psi or choose a stickier tire.

As a track day tire they are fine but wear way too quickly for the price. PS4S for the street, Nankang AR-1 for yhe track is my opinion (cup 2 if you can swing it).
Sorry but I’ve tested Toyos for years. I doubt they improved their overall performance spider. Any noob tire company can create a great dry tire, hello Falken.

That said Toyo makes solid A/T and M/T tires. Not as good as Michelin but they get up there.

My comment was on OEM equipment! If you start playing with ET values you can ofc go wider.

Michelin 295s will fit OEM BMW rear rims, my friends run this on the 437M wheel on their M3/4 (same wheel specs as all M2/C wheels).

On an M2C they may rub under compression, but I have not yet tried this.

The sidewall rating is a percent of the width so OEM is 265mm*35% = 92.75 vs 295mm*30% = 88.5mm. The percents go up in 5% increments so it is not possible to get the exact rolling diameter.

AVM if you want more poke get spacers but I think the M2/C is pretty spot on with its fitment already. Wider tires do help the sidewalls look more square and less stretched. BMW likes stretch but I dont like the look.

Yea but what about front. 275/30 front, not rear

Anyone know how 265/35 295/35 MP4S' work/look?

Do the fronts rub? Thinking of getting that size when I swap tires and came across a guy running 265/35 Cup Sport 2s up front with coil overs with spacers so apparently it works some how.

Hi guys, I know this has prob been answered elsewhere so I apologize in advance.

I have a new M2C and I did the BM3. The car spins the stock tires like crazy.

Was able to find some good & cheap PSS 295/30/19.
So can I put the stock 265/35 front and install the 295/30 rear? Will this work? Will it cause any issues with the traction control? I am not a tire expert...just wondering if this setup will work.

Worst case if the 265 rubs I can use the stock 245's up front...

Anything helps!
Thank you in advance!

you wanna do 255/35 on that set up up front, and 295/30 on the rear. If you plan on going even wider on the front keep in mind you gotta go 30 profile, and you likely will have rubbing issues at full bore against the suspension.

265/30 and 295/30 is what you really want.... more grip and balance, but will slightly increase the understeer (noticeable if you are a pro driver or an M-tester)
