For those of you running 255/35, 275/35 or wider...
I'm still running on the stock 245/265 Contis but when they die (soon) I want to upgrade to wider tires on stock 437ms and stock suspension (more than likely 255/275s) - which seems like something many people have done without issues.
I have noticed that the painted undercarriage underneath the door sill has been pelted to death by pebbles coming off the wheels/road. The paint now literally looks and "feels" like sandpaper... Does going to a wider tire make MORE of these pebbles impact the paint on the side of the car as well? My car is not wrapped and I just wonder if the wider tires can throw pebbles now more on the side of the car - I've seen folks with CF (pebble?) guards but never really considered these... Is this a problem? |

I went with 255/275 setup and did notice more things hitting the rear quarter panels. It got to the point where I replaced the stock PPF on the rear quarter panels with larger XPEL piece. Undercarriage side skirt along with the side winglets were peppered long before the larger tires. One of those "it is what it is" things for me.

You're only gaining just under a half inch of width with that setup. What type of tire you pick will have far more impact in how many rocks are kicked up.
