Electric Power Steering Rack Failure 4823E1

Looking for help if anyone has experience this. I have a no power steering, yellow light on dash, when scanned and when through diagnostic with ISTA code 4823E1 is displayed EPS control unit internal fault(hardware). There is not much info on this online when I searched but it's seems that the eps motor is bad. On one attempt I managed to clear the code and the car started and eps was working but as soon I shut it of and restarted it code came right back and no EPS. Car only has 9k on it so this is very strange to have a electric power steering issue already. I know this would most likely be coverage under warranty but, the car has Wagner intercooler and catless fabspeed downpipe along with MPE, so if I bring it to the dealer most likely its going to void the warranty. Just trying to see if someone has experienced Electirc Power Steering failures and if so what was resolution. Any feedback greatly appreciated its a bummer to have issues with EPS already at 9k miles replacement Eps costs $3k trying to see if I can avoid that at all costs.

you can find more info on the f30 forums. since its electric, it should be a lot easier to diy then hydraulic steering. guy on the f30 forums just bought a used one and swapped it out and recoded it.

Highly doubtful intercooler, downpipe and exhaust mods will void your steering components warranty. Just take it to the dealer. Magnuson-Moss Act is your friend here.
