I am thankful for... the guy who invented roundabouts
The guy who invented roundabouts. Especially when there is no traffic... Or cops

There are a few on a Marine Corps base in the Northern VA area, you should try that there.

Over the last few years, our area has been putting in not only single, but double roundabouts. When there are no cars, you obviously don't have to stop when you hit them and there's just those times when you hit a double one just perfectly and this car just feels so balanced and then you can push it just a little harder on the exit. This M2 is just a super fun car. The most fun car I've ever had. Do I go a little faster than I should at times? Of course... Who doesn't? I mean, come on people. But I don't go so far as to be a danger to myself or anyone else. That's not how I meant this post, but I can see how it could be interpreted that way. I had just hit a double earlier and it was so smooth. Love it! So much better than sitting at a stop light!

So true. I nearly killed some soccer mom in a minivan though. She was following me and I went through it without ever hitting brakes. She somehow thought her 5000lbs boat can do the same
Fortunately there was a lot of runoff and no curbs so no damage to her van. |

Happen to me before; I had a brand new Mini Cooper S with every single alphabet safety feature available (DSC, DTC, LSD, ect) and the guy next to me had a first year Mini Cooper, which I later learned that stability control wasn't available yet, for that year (MY 2002) He took off hard when the light turned green, I guess to challenge me; lost control, spun around a turn and crashed into a brick house. The motor flew out over a 100ft away. A week later when I passed by the scene of the accident and there were a wall of flowers up, which I'm pretty sure it's wasn't "Get Well Soon" wishes. Moral of the story; know the limits of your machine; overconfidence sometimes can be lethal. |

Love em! Good way to liven up an otherwise boring drive.
Interesting how you can create fun with our cars in unexpected places. There is a street here in Phoenix where they purposely tried to discourage traffic and speed by creating these wavy sidewalks. The idea being you have to zig/zag down the street instead of just a straight line. Little did they know that they created perfect chicanes! |

People tend to just blindly follow the vehicle in front of them. Not surprising someone would follow another car way too fast through a roundabout.
