You will still 100% fail NY state inspections, even with no CEL, if the vehicle's "readiness" system for emission testing is not in an active state.
https://dmv.ny.gov/brochure/what-do-...cars-not-ready Since you have no catalyst, you needed a tune to remove the readiness check for the vehicle. As a result, the O2 sensors and catalytic converter are disabled from being checked by the emission control system. The only way you'll pass is if you reinstall the stock cat and enable the emissions check system. There are 12 monitors that are checked, you're allow to have only one in a not ready state in NY and still pass. This was all news to me until I failed with absolutely no CEL but just a Dinan S1 piggyback and had to educate myself on how NY inspection works. There are tons of threads on this subject. . |

I ran catless for years using Cobb Accessport on my WRX STi and passed without issues. Car had a custom dyno tune from efiLogics and was always in Ready mode.
Since he has BM3 he should pass.

Get yourself a cheap OBD tool so you can read readiness stats.
Then you'll know before you go to the test... UK test is emission check only, no obd checks,, as long as you keep secondary CATs you'll still pass. The check tests are much higher limits than factory levels. That's why i replaced OPF with CATs so i can fit decat DPs and still pass emissions test. |
