For all those that are seeking a solution to the Fuel level, I have a workaround that will allow you to see fuel and much more data than the AiM preset offers for F-Models straight from canbus.

I will need to be able to remotely access your AiM display to load the preset, it can be done for the MXG, MXG 1.2, Strada and street icon versions.

I can vouch for Martyn, he's a genius and got my setup up and running!

That is the correct part for the dash surround. There is none available in the US when I checked in Dec 2022. Ended up getting one special ordered from Germany but I decided to install a dash surround from Wilvern motorsport instead.

If anyone needs an Aim MXG 7-inch dash surround I have one!

@imolam3

I guess you went with wil Vern motor sports because I see you can still access the menu buttons unlike the Bmw surround .

Yes, that's why I went with the Wilvern unit to allowed access the buttons. It's really well made.

Hey guys, mounted the Aim MXG and ran into an issue. The Aim MXG still needs the original instrument cluster connected to the vehicle since it acts as a conduit for the CanBus to get the needed signals such as fuel level, odometer reading, etc.

Per Martyn at Project Rogue.

"If you want to run the AiM permanently then you can disassemble the original instrument cluster as much as possible without damaging the internals, wrap it in something protective and hide it behind the dash. But it is not recommended if you plan to switch back to the orginal cluster. However, you can still hide it somewhere behind the dash in near full size without the outer case."

Can you guys that mounted the Aim MXG share what you did to mount the instrument cluster? The stock dash wirings are short.

TIA!

What did you end up doing? That seems inconvenient to still require the OE dash

Does anyone else have issues with the fitment of the dash surround. Mine doesn’t seem to fit in the space correctly. Mine is RHD so I’m not sure if that is the issue but the clusters are the same part number for both LHD and RHD so not sure that’s the problem.

Anyone have any suggestions of how to make it fit in correctly, maybe I’m not doing something right when trying to put it in?

Also anyone found a way to get the fuel level and oil pressures working without having the cluster still installed?

Some updates. Martyn got my Aim dash working with all the needed parameters. However, the OE cluster is still needed. I ended up wrapping it with foam and bubble wrapped the crap out of it and zip tied it under the steering column area.

I used the precalculated gear function with the published gear ratio for the M2 in the Aim math channel to get the gears to display on the dash but for some reason, it only reads correctly in gear 1-3.

In 4th gear, Aim dash is showing 3rd, 5th is showing 4th, and 6th is showing 5th. Aim support couldn't help so I ended up adjusting the 4th gear ratio in RS3 and got it to work to display in 4th gear. Now just need to do the same in 5, and 6th.
