So the choice comes down to financial or lifestyle circumstances. Both older and younger enthusiasts will still want one. Then it comes down to means. I'd say the same applies to any desirable car. |

Maybe some of it is subjective, maybe its implicit biases but for example, when I hear of a Porsche, Jaguar or Cadillac, I automatically think of the owner as a middle-aged or older man, in a middle to upper-class pay bracket, with a desire for something with a little more pep and styling, than the average offering. Now, can a 20 year old with, with a face full of lingering teenage acne and his hat turn backwards own a Porsche also? Sure but that doesn't mean he/she won't also raise eyebrows for appearing to what some might be considered as going against the grain. I obviously won't be able to articulately convey to you my point of view today, without it getting muddied with assumptions and I feel like I'm just sinking myself into place I wasn't even trying to go, so we'll just leave it here but please note, I meant no ill will and is merely sharing my perspective on the subject. |

One of the fellow Docs at my hospital drives a Mitsubishi Lancer EVO. That has a reputation of being a boy racer car, but it doesn't matter to him. It's a welcome change among a sea of white and silver Teslas in the Physician's lot. Somebody else has got an old 993 Porsche.
There will always be a more "mature" or technologically advanced car out there; but life is too short, and cars are too expensive to care about that stuff. Get what you want.

In 1989 my dream car was any car that didn't have to idle for 20 minutes before it was willing to be driven in the winter.

Back in the early 80's I was in high school (Fairbanks) and I had to plug my car in overnight so it would start and then drive slow until the flat spots worked out of the tires. I mounted a little space heater in the center console that I would plug in when I started the car (then go eat breakfast) so when I came out after 20 minutes the interior wouldn't be so freaking cold. Ah, the good old days ... Back then any muscle car was my dream along with a nice warm garage to park it. California may suck but at least the weather is nice!

I did somewhat cross shop the GT350 and 500 to the M2C, but I just couldn't get myself to pull the trigger on a 'stang. They are cool looking and have insane power and the exhaust note is fantastic when you want it, but they just don't trigger the emotional response I got from looking at BMW M cars. Plus I am more comfortable being a DB beemer driver rather than a DB mustang owner.

I think 2020 has caused enough damage to society, I wouldn't want to plow any bystanders over in a Mustang either.

Very opinionated post: You're absolutely not too old for any M car. You're in your own head because (almost) every fun and/or nice car has a stigma/stereotype attached to it and it's usually perpetuated by people who don't care about cars.
Ironically, I thought I was too young to buy an M2C, but alas, that was dumb. The answer is: drive what you like and if someone makes a negative crack at you for it, learn to laugh and remember that they more than likely hate driving. In the end you're coming out loving what you drive and age just means you have more experience. Also, if I see a guy/gal who's 70+ old and driving an M2C he/she is probably an absolute badass. So if anything, older people need to buy more M cars. Drive what you love!

I "like" the Mustang and so do my kids, but I have the same lack of emotional response to it. The company finally took off this year and I'm in a position to afford a new M car so I pulled the trigger last month. I plan to be driving a MT BMW for as long as I possibly can. |

Can you imagine this bizarre discussion on like a McLaren forum?
Is the 600LT a kids car? Like, what will people think of you when you're driving it?!?

A McLaren is an adult car; not a lot of "kids" are rolling around in a 1/4 million dollar specialize sports car.. Now, a M2/M2C brand new, range from 51k to 62k, give or take, so it's within a price bracket that a lot of parents of trust fund babies can afford to splurge on their kids with.. Comparing the the two demographic of vehicles are like apples to a McLaren.. |

I live in a pretty affluent part of the country, you would be surprised at what cars people think one demographic should or shouldn't drive.

What I've always thought interesting was the HUGE difference between normal BMW 5 series owner perspectives and M5 owner perspectives. Many 5er owners are just successful white collar persons who want to be smart with their choices. M5 owners on the other hand are often highly successful entrepreneurs that want to add an M5 badge to their stable of supercars. Why add an F90 M5 when his wife drives an E63 AMG? Because he can and is tired of driving his Ferrari in traffic.

Note for long trips I do take stuff out of my pants pockets due to the bolsters being so confining, it does hurt to have a wallet digging into you for 6 hours.
