fleetfoot - our cars eats up the outer shoulder, especially in the front. My PSSs are looking like yours and I think they should be good for one more hard, dry track day. If you add more camber in the front, something like 3.5 you may be able to stretch them out to 2 days.

Thanks! I was hoping to get one more weekend out of these PS4Ss. Is there anything in particular you look for on the shoulder to know they’re done?

I’m planning to add a little more camber next time I get the car aligned. I’ve also got a set of RS4s waiting in the garage. It sounds like those shoulders might hold up a little better?

This is what one of my PS4S fronts looked like after 3 days on stock camber. I added Vorslag camber plates and -3.0 degrees camber in the front (-2.0 in the rear). Did 3 days last weekend with my passenger tire looking like that on a clockwise track, running 40 psi hot and had no problems. There was no additional wear on the shoulders for either tire. I'd say if you can get some camber plates, the tires can be saved.

fleetfoot I'd run those many more events. They look great.

I just thought of a better question so I know what to watch for: does anyone have a picture of PS4Ss with completely worn out shoulders? (and not due to chunking like the OP)

[QUOTE=MooMooM2;30363781]What size are you running on the Falkens? What I am seeing *and have heard over and over* is that 19s just don't have a ton of tire size choices. I have also read that about the bridgestones but people swear by them.

Sorry for the late reply, I’m running 245/265. It really was a stop gap for this year. I just bought the car and didn’t have the funds to get a second set of 18s, plus tires. I’ll drop to 18s, and get a similar configuration that gives me a nice sidewall similar to the gt3 as mentioned above. BTW, any one gonna be at Mid O 9/15-17 with ARPCA?

Bummer, would be good to meet up. I’m technically assigned to NORPCA (I live East of CLE), but started doing ARPCA HPDEs last year, and the Sept 9/23-24 is my anniversary, and if I’d like to have any more anniversaries, I’ll never be able to attend that weekend.

Yeah I understand that. Maybe I’ll see you at the spring event.

I don't have a picture of actual tires myself but found this: https://www.reddit.com/r/CarTrackDay...side_shoulder/

I personally would avoid using a tire w/ no more thread on the shoulder as 1) I don't want to potentially miss out on track day sessions because my tire isn't up to par and 2) I'd rather not risk chunking and a potential blow out from a chorded outer edge.

However if you add more negative camber the tires you have may last longer as it will not be destroying the outer shoulder at the same rate as being on stock camber settings. Not an M2C but when I added coilovers and 3.5 degrees of camber on my GR86 I was able to salvage a set of tires that had heavy shoulder wear from being run at autocrosses at stock camber settings.
