Quick update on day 1 of the crank hub and crank seal guard from Kies Motorsports is done.

Moving into day 2 where the amazing pinned billoted crank hub from RK Autowerks will be installed!

This all under the skilled hands of Bimtech who is doing amazing work! While its a little crazy to see your motor torn apart, I have complete confidence in their work and ANYONE in the PacNW should bring their cars here!

Not kidding.. they are that good!

Did you end up priming the oil system? Because bmw has issued an SIB where any work on the oil system must have a priming step at the end. They issued this SIB because rod bearings kept getting seized resulting in rod bearing failure when oil system priming was not done after work on the oiling system.

Fantastic info and in this case I didn't, knowing all fluids were coming out shortly for the crank hub replacement.

That's still not good because if there is a large air pocket in your oiling loop (which is common when removing the oil thermostat and doing oil filter housing gaskets) it will cause excessive wear on your bearings if you start the engine without priming first. Alot of n55 guys have had their entire motors lock up and get seized or experience excessive damage to their rod bearings because they didn't prime their oiling loop.

Also, when doing the crank hub replacement as per eas:https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1561598

You drop the oil pan (just like an oil change no problem here) but you don't disrupt the oil cooler loop, so therefore no bubbles will be introduced. Therefore an oil priming step is not necessary. So what i'm trying to say is if you didn't start the car yet make sure the shop primes your oiling system correctly aka unplug the fuel injectors (not the LPFP by itself letting the injectors just spray, because the HPFP is lubricated by fuel and needs the fuel supply) and the coils if you want, then cranking it for 10 seconds, then stop letting the starter cool for 20 seconds, then repeat 3 times. If you have already started and drove your car, there is nothing you can do from here just hope your bearings are ok and monitor your oil for excessive metal (copper, lead etc) which is indicative of bearing failure.

I appreciate all the detail and am literally in the middle of my hub replacement. I made sure to pass on the info and they are familiar with the process.

thank you!

Here you go: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sour...=1613774295595

That should be the link to the SIB pdf, a very interesting thing to note is that they now recommend pulling the lpfp fuse whereas before on the n54 and n55 sib they recommended to pull the fuel injector connectors. Maybe they're saying this because it's easier to do, but imo it's better to pull the fuel injector fuses just like the old sib says.

No problem, you should also probably out that in your video too incase people watch it and forget to prime their oiling system. This guy does a good job showing how it's done:

My latest DIY is up with help from Kies Motorsports! This is a quick and easy way to add your personal flair in your build, match color highlights, or just bring some extra color.

Easy DIY, I highly recommend it for anyone with M1/M2 buttons on your steering wheel!

Ok.. next up!

Candidly I have always wanted these even before I had the seats that would work! I was always looking to add F82 seats to my F32, and if so would have added these a moment later!

Install is beyond simple, but adds a really beautiful CF change to the seats, and Kies Motorsports is the place to get them!

Check it out!

build questions..

**edited**

There was some irregularities with the first run, so I went back and did it all over again, and the numbers were much more in line to where one would expect from the stock M2C tune.

3/11/2021 - 22rpd in Renton

Stock Tune
RWP averaged SAE corrected - 403
Torque average SAE corrected - 466.85

Stock CS tune flashed
RWP averaged SAE corrected - 422.1
Torque average SAE corrected - 473.43

What is most important out of it really is the radical difference in the power and torque curves. The CS is much flatter and massively stronger earlier, plus torque later in the band. Check out the +70 at 6500 RPM! Just nuts!

Really excited to run the CS map until its time to move to the stage 2!

Thanks for this. I had the HK system in my OG M2 and now have the Hifi in my M2C. Both sound equally horrendous. I just cringe at the idea of trying to remove that door handle trim piece. Will probably order a few extra door clips too. Thanks!

Happy to help.. really is a worthy upgrade with the full system and makes a dramatic difference!

I am really excited to bring the full sound comparison of the Active Autowerke performance midpipe on my F87 M2 competition!

Now quick reality.. doing sound videos is HARD as it depends on a million variables from the mic, to the distance, to the camera, the tune on the and so on and so on.

That said, I wanted to create the most similar testing scenarios I could with each change in the setup, same gear, same tune, same distances and even road.

The goal was to give you, as best as possible the comparisons between the stock setup and then with the performance single channel midpipe, with or without AB pipe resonators.

This really can make a HUGE difference in the sound of your car, and even a slight (possible) change to performance.

Check it out.. the difference can be quite dramatic!
