Garage door opener
I can't for the life of me get the built-in garage door opener to learn my remote. I've followed the directions exactly and given it half a dozen tries. The flashing light seems to indicate that it was learned but pushing the button, nothing happens. I'm fairly certain it's not a rolling-code system (any idea how to determine this?).
Any ideas or tricks that got it to work for others? |

It would probably be helpful if you mentioned what type of garage door you own... then, if there are other people on this board with the same type, they can tell you if it works or not. By the way, once it's linked, it works great! I have openers on other cars which I have to push repeatedly to get my garage door to open. Not so with the M2, one press, even from several doors down before I reach my home, and the garage opens. |

Any GDO made in the last 20-25 years or so is generally going to be a rolling-code system.
Rolling code started around 1993.

I have mine programmed both to a garage door and to my exhaust valves and they all work just fine. I used these instructions:

Some of the most recently made garage door openers require an additional step, which as I recall is that you need to press the Homelink button you are programming a few additional times after the initial programming. If it is not the Homelink button, then it is the learn button on the opener itself. It's been awhile since I programmed one of these, but it kept hanging up on this step, on multiple cars. The number of additional pushes required depends on the make of your door opener; with the Chamberlains, I think it is 3 presses.
This part of the programming is either omitted or not made clear in a lot of the instructions that are out there. Do a little online searching on Homelink instructions and you will find what I am talking about. Some of the newer openers (as in ones made in the last few years) are quite frustrating to program. It has to do with what I think they call "level 2.0 security" or something similar to that. You will be able to get it to work, it's not a compatibility issue, it is a programming issue.

IIRC in the manual it makes it seem like you need to do "one or the other step" in regards to rolling vs. non-rolling - however, for a rolling GDO you need to do *both* steps in order to get it work.

It's for any exhaust system that retains stock valve control. I use it with my Remus set up and it works great.

I am going to try that as my garage door remote is really finicky, usually takes like 4-8 presses to actually activate. I have only tried it a few times but up until now I have been unable to program the Homelink button. House was built in 2009 so it should be compatible.

The latter. It force opens the valve(s) and keeps it/them open regardless of driving mode or throttle input etc. Same as any other valve controller. This one's just cool because you can program it into the homelink buttons.

I didn't have much luck with the directions in the manual, and finally went to my GDO manufacturer's website. They usually have Homelink instructions for the model you have. The instructions to make mine work were quite different from the manual. After a lot of frustration, I was able to finally get it to work.

I have a 15 year old Genie and just redid my cars over the weekend because I ran out of devises I could add. Got each car done first try. The trick for me was to hit the learn button on the garage door after the setting up the car. Clear the car and get the light on the mirror flashing fast with the existing garage door opener THEN hit the learn button on the garage door. Garage opening learn light will flash for around 5 seconds and the car is programed. Hope that helps.

One more thing, only the original garage door opening that came with the system was able to code the cars. Those openers even if not programed to open the garage door will still cause the learn light to flash on the garage door, other replacement openers don't do that on my system.
