You can possibly look for aftermarket springs with a softer rate.

Most of the issue with the stock suspension is the damping, it makes the car unnecessarily "crashy." The fix truly is the M Performance suspension, which does have a bit more bounce because of the increased spring rate, but VASTLY better damping. 3-clicks softer on the BMW-recommended MPS settings with no drop + 30 rear / 31 front psi and you're in a Cadillac.

According to a reputable local tuner Ohlins R&T seem to be my best option for comfort
Standard is 90/190
I read some here that revalving to 70/140 would be even better
Drawbacks ?

Ohlins have high maintenance costs, every 20000-30000km or every 2 years, the dampers need to be rebuilt or you will have noise.
Also it’s more sporty than kw V3.

I called the Ohlins rep, he recommends 50,000 miles on the rebuild, wasn’t quoted a time frame.

Still no real answer to how to make my M2 as comfortable as possible
I absolutely love the car but it gives me lower back pain so I need a solution
Dinan is supposed to give more comfort than stock
Ohlins 70/140 looks good but very pricey
MSS springs ?
Air drive ?

Is it possible to just put softer springs in ?
Springs for another series 2 ?

I would even give up some road handling to get more comfort...

Yes, you can put springs from other 2-series (and 3/4-series) in the car, but would need to make sure you'd be happy with the ride height. 3/4 series springs (even the m-perf ones) will typically raise the M2 higher.

One thing you can try right away to help with larger bumps is to trim the rear bump stops by 10mm to give the rear more travel before getting into the stiff rate of the bump stops.

It is not the big bumps that give me trouble, it's the imperfections in the road at higher speeds (70-100 km/h)
Roads here in Belgium are really terrible

I dont want my car higher...

I bet you'd get the most comfortable with KW products.
Particularly KW DDC coilover kit (not as easy to install but easy to change settings).
You can get comfortable with M Performance coilovers (which are based on KW3 kit). Vast improvement even with the default street settings, can tune the compression/rebound settings to be even more comfortable. The reason I like the MP kit is that it's really easy to install and it won't allow one to do stupid things/settings.
Not sure about the KW lowering springs.
Doubt you can get particularly comfortable with Ohlins RT or Bilstein B16. The Ohlins kit may require a bit more knowledge to correctly install and tune, and experimenting with spring rates to get what you want.
Sachs/Eibach Street performance coilover kit is comfortable with their default settings but the problem is it was designed for the N55 engine of the OG M2 and on M2C it bottoms out and you can't get the ride height right.

If I were after comfort I'd go with either KW DDC or M Performance.

I like the kw dcc but seems a waste to install an adaptive system only to use the most comfortable setting

I just fitted MSS springs on my M2C.
Noticeable comfort increase on the drive back, but will update as the springs settle - I will be back to Autocouture most likely next week for 200 mi adjustment, then I should be able to confirm if my spine feels better driving on the MSS vs stock.

I won't say what you should or shouldn't do—discomfort is very-much a quality of life issue and each person experiences that differently.

I will say that as someone who previously had an '18 M2 (now M2C) with Öhlins R&T, I feel the ride is improved when the dampers are opened up (softer) even with the out of the box spring rates from Öhlins. If I purely drove on the street I might've considered a softer spring rates and custom valving.

One thing that stands out, to me, about this setup is how it reduces the crashy feeling that VisualEcho mentioned—especially on things like expansion joints. There's a specific joint in a corner that I drive over often—in our i3S, the car is jostled and literally skips over it. With the stock M2 suspension, a similar feeling, but once the Öhlins were installed, you feel it in the steering, but it's largely absorbed.

I hope you find something that allows you to enjoy your car in comfort without a lot of hassle.

I so far put 300 miles on the new suspension, and here are my thoughts on the MSS springs.
The highway driving is improved compared to the stock setup. The car feels more planted on the road and the body roll virtually is nil.
The road imperfections feel about the same as stock (a bit smoother, but I had no complains from the stock setup handling the high speed imperfections).
On the streets I would say the comfort has increased marginally - some road imperfections are handled better than stock, others (I.e. cobble stone) are as bad as stock but not worse. In the end, I’m happy I went with MSS springs for now.
Currently, running 10/15 mm drop front/rear.

I have now put non runflat tires, Michelin PS4S and I must say that the car is more comfortable now
If I continue to have lower back pain I will probably install Ohlins 70/140
