It's so good... I can't stop driving it.
I was fortunate enough to pickup my M2 CS this morning after a week of it getting clear bra'd, coated, replacing the reflectors with painted ones, and painting the ceramic brake calipers red instead of gold and today, I brought her home...
It was a glorious drive and as soon as I got home, I emptied out all the dealership bits they gave me and immediately got back in and drove it for several hours. It's a noticeable improvement over the Competition and I can't stop driving it. I've been ripping around all day long and it's a true joy to drive. The active suspension is really nice compared to the Competition and I love the minimalistic nature of the interior. The seats are fantastic and a big improvement over the Competition, they hug you just right and feel great. It definitely feels faster than the Competition, and the sound is excellent for a stock exhaust too. In MDM mode it definitely has zero issues losing traction in a straight line or in a turn. I spent many a turns sliding the car for fun and man is it addicting (don't try this at home kids, it can get away from you if you're not careful). It's torquey but not annoying, it's agile and quick but not overwhelmingly powerful. It really is just a great overall balance of power for the size. The steering wheel is definitely thick, but I actually like it, it feels beefy and solid. I'm not super excited that they didn't use the newest iDrive system, but I'm glad they kept the analog gauges on the instrument cluster, although I wish the current gear that's engaged was bigger on the display. Not a big deal, just a small knit pick. Visually, the car is stunning. Call it a parts bin car, call it whatever you want but BMW really nailed it. The contrast of carbon against the white and just the right bits is fantastic. I can't stop staring at it. Overall was it worth it? Yes... Was it overpriced? Yes... Would I do it again? Absolutely, 10 times over. I am very happy with the car, I can't really describe it, it's just outrageously fun to drive in a manageable and giddy little kid way. I will drive this car without question more than any of my other cars. Tomorrow I'm taking it on a 1200 mile road trip which will include a fair mix of city, highway, and twisty roads. I'll report back in a couple days once I'm done, but I'm super excited to start the journey tomorrow. Here she is before she takes her maiden voyage. Stay tuned.. |

I'm really hoping I feel the same way! I was blown away by how good the M4CS with CCB was, got to wring it out hard in the mountains and it delivered with such poise and confidence allowing me to push it (or me) to 9/10's right away. I was driving it back to back with a M4 Comp on the 20 in. wheels, truly amazing how much better the CS felt...I couldn't stand those large wheels on the Comp.
Considered the M4CS but couldn't give up my 6-spd so this is my opportunity to hopefully have it all.

I will likely change the exhaust for sure... but we'll see how it fairs on the 1200 mile drive.

How are the seats different from the Comp seats aside from the cutouts?

Nice write up.
Without doubt this is the one and only mod that should be made to all US cars. Essential. It's up there with replacing 80s US bumper car bumpers. Don't touch the exhaust. For me, the non OPF in M2c has improved like a fine wine. Perfect balance of being obnoxious and having fun. CS will only be better. |

Merino leather instead of Dakota leather. I can tell you having tracked my M2C, I slide around way too much in the Dakota leather seats. Merino is much better, stick to the seats and more comfortable.

Your Akra looks incredible and I'm sure sounds great. But since we don't get stuck with the OPFs here in the USA, I expect a lot of us will give the specially-modified stock CS exhaust a good run before making a decision as to whether to switch it out.

cutting the original exhaust does not seem problematic to me: very bulky to store a large room is necessary

I agree. I'm just keeping my options open at this point. I am open to keeping the stock CS exhaust and I want to at least give it a run for a while and see if my experience is similar to Davil's. If I decide to modify, I am open to cutting or a full system replacement.
