Awesome shots of even more awesome scenery! Stayed in Riva Del Garda with a view of the Dolomites then traveled to Austria through the Brenner Pass back in 1984. Still see these images.... what a great trip! Thank you!

Absolutely stunning! Looks like an amazing trip.

On a side note +1 to that phone camera. Pretty impressive quality for a phone.

Passo Stelvio to Passo Sella Dolomiti

For those who consider doing a European Delivery and plan to take their new horse to the mountains: Stelvio Pass (Passo Stelvio) is great, no doubt about that, but tends to be bloody crowded during the Summer season (except if your drive it at sunrise or at sunset). And the top is loaded with tourist trap shops. I like Stelvio Pass, but I don't love it.

The Dolomites, and especially "Sella Ronda" has also become a popular location, but in my book it's a much more glorious drive than Stelvio Pass. Mesmerizing, mind blowing scenery. Incredibly beautiful and humbling. Personally I wouldn't mind skipping the much-hyped Stelvio Pass in favor of Sella Ronda. As soon as you cross the Austrian/Italian border in Sterzing (Vipiteno): get off the A22 Brennero highway and drive the amazing Penserjoch (Passo di Pennes) South towards Sarntal (Sarentino) and Bozen (Bolzano). Subsequently head East to drive Sella Ronda and other passes nearby. If the weather is fine, it will get you everlasting memories, much more than 'a quicky' at the Stelvio Pass spaghetti.

Sella Ronda = a 'circle' (ronda) of ± 50 km consisting of four connected passes which you can drive non-stop in about 75 minutes: Sella Pass (Sellajoch) [W] - Gardena Pass (Grödnerjoch) [N] - Campolongo Pass [E] - Pordoi Pass [S])

Here's a roadmap I conceived for a trip with ± 20 BMW cars driven in September 2016. It was epic. ± 250 km trip (1 day). Mountain passes driven in order of appearance: Passo di Giau | Passo Staulanza | Passo Duran | Passo di San Pellegrino | Passo Fedaia | Passo Pordoi | Passo Sella [Sellajoch] | Passo Gardena [Grödnerjoch] | Passo Valparola | Passo Falzarego:

"We" like those passes too. Dackelone & Artemis approved!

Don't forget about: San Bernardino Pass, Gotthard Pass and Nufenen Pass in Switzerland. Also, Hahntennjoch Passhöhe and Timmelsjoch(Soelden, Austria leading down into Italy) are also quite nice - it's a favorite for us each year as we head to Sella.

You can search for our past Euro 1Addicts tours: Stelvio 1.0, Stelvio 2.0, Sella 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 or click on the links bellow at the end of my posts.

PS: for anyone headed to Stelvio... Gavia Pass(kind of near it), still gives me nightmares/shivers thinking about it. Gavia was one hell of a narrow road with no guard rails in the upper sections. Lots of fog too - is common. But it was magical at the top. Stelvio is a bucket list type place... but its very crowded and bumpy in the curves. Sella Ronda is not of this world(in a great way!). And that's why we keep coming back each year.
