Arrow 1M meets M2

I did a track day test driving the new M2 coupe and took a few photos with my car & the new M2 side by side. Thought to share them with you all.

I really enjoyed the M2 on the track but is it that much better than my 1M to trade-up? NO.

you say its not better enough to trade up, but is it better? I'd love to hear your thoughts about the two.

The front of the M2 looks 100x better. Look how much more air flows into the radiators compared to the 1M. M2 means business with that front end. I can never get used the the goofy looking headlights of the 1M.

Love the side and rear profile of the 1M.

Yes Arvinz, it's the revozport CF diffuser. The valvetronic exhaust is from HMS Tuning, Germany.

The M2 drives very well. It has a nice powerband with virtually no turbo lag compared to 1M. DCT transmission felt good (smoother than the M4 I drove afterwards). The cabin was strange with the piped in sound, engine and exhaust note sounded good but somewhat artificial. I had full helmet on as well so it's a bit hard to tell accurately. The car handled really, felt more nimble than the M4 with the lighter weight and certainly not as scary as the 1M. I pushed hard (with just sport mode, we weren't allowed full DSC off) and it turned in nicely without feeling it was going to step out. As an everyday drive, occasional spirited run and track days, I think the M2 ticks a lot of boxes for people like us who like to drive. In short, it is the newer 1M coupe that got more refined.

It is better no doubt in a lot of ways but it won't give you the same thrill as the 1M, IMHO of course. It's kinda like you've grown up now and dating a more steady, marriage material girl but you will miss the other wild one you dated before.

Nice pics ! Love both these cars but the cult and popularity that will follow the M2 will make the 1M special me thinks.

The M2 is the usual litany: it's longer, it's faster, it's heavier, it's more luxurious; you should like it.
Sorry, not my kind of car.

If my 1M didn't have the worst Nav system ever put into a car, it would be perfect. I'm going to 3D print a clip to hold my phone in front of the display.

Anyone know what it would take to remove the display and iDrive from a car that has it installed?

Thanks for the awesome pics.

I thought the 1M looked wide from the front but can't believe how much wider the M2 looks in this pic.

It must be good as I didn't complain about it and I didn't hear any negative discussion among other drivers. The turn in at high speed corners felt good.

The 1m looks so spry and happy in this picture, all the other cars look mad.

They are doing this in my town this weekend at Road Atlanta, going up sunday to try and snap some pics with the M2.
