Armrest delete

Hey guys, has anyone managed an armrest delete yet? Saw what the M2CS was doing and started getting ideas...

I'd like an armrest "reduction" instead if a delete. The center armrest gets in the way of shifting my 6MT. If It weren't quite as high I'd have the best of both worlds. I've seen threads where people have fabricated a slim door with less padding.

I've contemplated this for a very long time but ultimately, the arm wrest is great support for the elbow, especially on long trips

I have long arms though

I think driver height as well as seat position has a big role in this. I'm 6' and I have my seat as far on the ground as it will go and I 100% need the armrest (and I pull it out forward as well) in order to drive my 6MT comfortably. I would hate driving without one personally.

My F30 has an armrest but it's fixed and doesn't pull out like it does on the M2. Really dislike that.

Honestly I want it for aesthetic more than practical value. That being said, I also feel kind of silly adjusting my driving position on account of an armrest now that I have it tuned in well for performance :/

I would like to remove the armrest in order to give my arm clearance - without having to stick my elbow out - when changing gear.

There does appear to be a 2 series centre console listed in Realoem that's armrest-free, but...

I'm just going by the illustration in Realoem:

https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=51_8582

The M2 has part 3, but parts 1 and 2 clearly exist.

That part 1 would involve removing the rear seat vents (if that matters). I modified my armrest https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...0&postcount=31

Together with the Auto Solutions SSK & Raceseng knob it's a much better drive particularly spirited or on track. I only wish someone would do a clutch pedal for RHD, it's just a little high in the rest position.

The part you guys are looking for is 51169230724 from 218i: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=51_8582. That's why it's not showing up for you when you select M2.

I believe that you're going to need other parts, as well. I don't even know if the e-brake boot will swap over - probably not, since it looks different. You'd have to eliminate the rear vents too, which I personally couldn't care less about. Somebody should attempt this and report back with a DIY that includes a list of parts needed

I also thought about an armrest delete. I deleted the armrest in my e46 m3 and it was the most useful "mod" I've done. Much more room for proper shifting, especially if you're tall and have long arms. Some people love armrests, but I can't stand them in a manual car.

The alternative is to go for the CS center console, but I'm sure it's ridiculously overpriced.

The CS appears to have sorted this problem. I look forward to seeing if it's possible to buy one without a CS Chassis Number...

No need for a VIN #.
Need deep pockets though.
I was interrested in this option until I saw the price.
5700$ for the CF center console.
400$ for the top trim.
Not currently available.

Well, having sat in a CS this week, the centre tunnel does look very nice, and lacks the rear seat vents.

So fitting the low profile centre tunnel trim from the F22 - which also has no rear seat vents - would be in keeping. Would need to get the trim panel that clips on top refinished to match the rest of the interior, but that's not difficult.

Or one could just fit the centre tunnel trim that's the same shape as the one in the F87 but comes without the armrest assembly, and swap everything else over.

Part numbers for both items appears here: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=51_8582
