My current true Grand touring experience is the ftype svr. 2017. Car is really great. Super comfortable in normal mode, teeth jarring in dynamic. It sounds amazing. I've put 17k bullet proof miles on it. It's unbelievably stable at high speed even with the top down. You can now pick them up with low mileage in the upper $70k. I think the 991.1 and 991.2 are always good options. I think the AMG GT cars are starting to get close to 100k in low mileage used form.

Don't overlook the Lexus LC500. That car looks dynamite. Where as the 991 is less GT, the LC500 is way more touring.

I saw the AMG GT and it looks nice but is a bigger car and won't be as nimble or tossable as a M2 CS. Car and Driver did a comparison of the AMG GT and 911 S and preferred the 911.

I had high hopes for the LC500. Great looks and Lexus reliability, what more do you want...well the infotainment was absolutely terrible and the space felt a lot more cramped than a 911. So it was off the list immediately.

Also test drive the 840i and boy, it's pretty nice and was thoroughly impressed. Granted the comparable m850i is much more expensive.

That is why my new thought is to pick up a M2 variant new and maybe get a BMW GT preowned when pricing comes down significantly.

The 991 is also a great choice, but I don't see many configured nicely on the preowned market. Also a lot of brining colors and black interiors, which I hate.

Outside of the normal 911 options I'd be thinking about a Lotus Evora, 2016 Boxter Spyder or maybe even an F430 which can be had that that price (F1 transmission).

...but I'm sticking to my guns with Euro Delivery on an M2CS.

Here's a question for you, would you still be interested in ED if you don't get ED pricing?

I ask because I think my dealer may go with that approach to make a few bucks

A big part of the appeal is the trip. If I wasn't able to do that I would feel pretty slighted and probably wouldn't do it at all. I have been wanting to do ED for about 10 years now, always hoped that one day it would make sense. As an employee at a BMW center I will forego the 'Center Employee Lease' option which usually has some hefty discounts (except on the M2 which we all know leases terribly) to do ED instead. The M2CS is a great opportunity for me to do ED, both for personal appeal and from the financial 'opportunity cost' approach.

When a dealer gives customers the Euro Delivery MSRP they are giving up BMW's Added Value on that vehicle which in most cases is all of the front end profit that is made on new cars. Hence why most dealers are not willing to go that route, especially on a limited edition car that they could gouge a large profit on.

Someone just posted the Canadian order guide in the pricing thread, but can't make out many of the details. If be curious as to why a us guide wouldn't be out as well. Not many options. Man, a Euro discount on this car would be fantastic

One would think the US order guide would be coming soon. I was pleased that the Canadian order guide mentioned that the production is effective 3/1/20 so less than two months away.

My SA responded that his thought is that the US data would not be far behind.

If shopping new R8 territory, then I'd be looking at a used Huracan. My forum sleuthing seems to show them as being quite reliable. The GT3 is a super drivers car, but interior was blah for a DD and roads would need to be nice in your area. I'd probably try my hand at a GT4, or get a Supra to modify. I'm done with GT cars. They are quick and comfy, but the weight always seems to be present. I want that nimble, tossable , light on the feet feeling.
Used gen2 if I can find one for a really good deal.

This was interesting. Better fuel economy for CS. Aero or weight?

BMW M2 Competition:
Average consumption (combined) according to WLTP1: 9.3–10.0 l / 100km
CO 2 emissions (combined) according to WLTP1: 211 - 228 g / km
CO 2 emissions according to NEDC2: 209 - 209 g / km

BMW M2 CS (2) :
Fuel consumption in l / 100 km (average): 10.2–10.4 [9.4–9.6]
CO 2 emissions in g / km (average): 233–238 [214 –219]
