End of current cycle
Hello - When is the end of this M2 cycle anticipated. Typically 7 years is common with BMW. How long has the M2 (OG included) been around for and how much longer do you think?
My time frame for purchase is next year, but I dont want to buy a model about to be updated. Thanks! |

2021 will be the last year of the F series cars. Who knows when the G series M cars will hit the lots, maybe 2023?

Very helpful guys, thank you! Looks like I'll get into a 2021 model, which will be the last for the F87s. Not sure how I feel about that as I tend to keep my cars for a while.

I'm about to take delivery of my new M2C in HS, in about 10days time. Unfortunately my time with my beloved F10 M5 MCB is coming to an end but CANNOT WAIT until the new steed arrives. I can say that I've ticked the box of V8 ownership (and then some) for 3.5yrs and it's been epically good....
But as you can imagine, I've been trawling every YouTube review and magazine article I can lay my hands on for opinions on the M2C....and not one of them says anything other than it's an exemplary M-Car. But I did also have a pang of doubt about the end of life date....however....with the way current legislation is going (especially here in the EU, specifically the UK) with emissions laws and the UK government stating that no more petrol and diesel cars will be sold in the not-so-distant future, then I'm more than happy to get into such an epic car before the idiots take hold and forbid anything so good from being made again. We know that mild hybrid is coming, it's a technology that BMW M are looking at, and whilst I'm sure that they'll do the best job they can, I think the current generation of M cars are about at their pinnacle. Without being a doom-monger, I can only see it going downhill from here I'm afraid. OP - Get into the F87 and don't worry if it gets "superceded" in a year or two. You'll have one of the finest driving machines in BMW (road car) history. Anyway, I'm going back to my clock, to count down a few more minutes until collection day.... |

OP here. I think my time to jump into an M2 may come sooner than expected. The 3rd car (son drives when back from college, daughter will begin learning in spring) unexpectedly took a dump and will need to go. So this pulls up my timeline to like....now!
Guys - Is there anything I need to be aware of (besides a lifetime of smiles) about the M2 comp? Anything you guys never thought of, or wish you knew? This will be my dd, and I'll put on about <10k miles a year for the next 8 years. Thanks |

Optional but I recommend tuning out the active sound (drones on the highway), and throwing a Bootmod3 tune in to get you to typical S55 power and torque levels (450 HP). Despite half my 30 minute highway commute being traffic, I specced 6MT and do not regret it, though I've heard great things about the dual clutch. JOIN US |

Bimmercode makes it super easy to configure, just need an OBDII device like this Veepeak thing https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073XKQQQW..._SsGj1DFK3ALru (however bimmercode does not tune your engine) Coding it out is also available with Bootmod3 but Bootmod3 is more expensive but does provide the engine (and transmission if dual clutch!) tuning option. I used this dongle for my car. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MECEI14..._557Y3aAQHUct7 |

We may be in before the end of an era here gentlemen. With auto-shifting gearboxes, electric motors, laws and technology taking over the driving experience more and more, this may very well be the tail end of classic sports cars powered by old dinosaurs you can row the gears for yourself. I intend to keep my 2020 M2C until it becomes a classic (I don't daily drive it & yes I know it'll be decades).

I agonized over moon roof or not, and decided to go without because the M2 looks just so complete without it. More to come gents! |
