What happened in North America in 16 vs 17 to make MT spike over 50%? Did MY16 buyers have brain cramps like the rest of the world? Anyway good work Canada and US on supporting the MT and as for the rest of the world...those are pretty hurting stats. An automatic sports car. Wow. Why. Also glad I stayed away from overdone LBB.

Because it's faster on a sports car? Because you don't lose boost when shifting? Because I drive it every day and there can be traffic? Because there is the option to choose your own gears or be lazy and let the car handle it. Because if it's good enough for F1...

I agree, good to see the Canadians supporting the manual, but per head of population, several other countries are supporting the manual transmission option ahead of the USA.

Using the above information, and SickFinga's splits on the transmissions by country, I get the following breakdown ...
You should be thanking the Brits, us Aussies, as well as folks in Germany and (incredibly) Hong Kong before you doff your hat to those in the USA

I thought that the original post did actually have total sales by country (before it was updated)..? I guess that's one for SickFinga as the %'s on the MT/DCT split come from his first post...?

Anyway, from what I was taught in my stats class, a sample size of 30 will give a 95% accuracy ... and the larger the sample, the greater the accuracy. And most of those markets have had sales in excess of 30, so they're probably reliable

Statistics don't apply here. This is the raw data. It would be different and confidence intervals would apply if you were trying to extrapolate to future sales or were looking at a small sample of a larger population, but that isn't the case here.

Uh my grandmother can drive your grandmother to her knitting group in her MT car. Didn't we already have someone post about everyone's grandmother can drive stick a few days ago? You and my grandmother could drive the same car, amazing! Pat yourself on the back!

Manual overhere still is common in al those 'cheapo' small hatchbacks. Hate to say it.
Driving lessons overhere=Manual gearchange /clutch lessons to begin with unless you don't want to.

This is the old continent you know?

DCT=special raaaaaaciiiiiiiiiiiiiiing!!111!!

Cheers

Uh huh whatever you say. Do you really believe that? What percentage of women can drive manual? I'd wager less than 5%. Of those how many do it well? BTW you're calling a lot of people idiots with your sweeping remark like 95%.

What do you think people did before there were automatics? I mean come on man, use your head. I mean seriously. Really take a moment and think about all the people all over the world that drove manual when that's all they had access to before you make your next post. Those old manual transmission cars didn't rev match, have hill hold, or automatically rev it up for you when you put it first and let off the clutch. And yes women drove them too, all over the world, before the modern manual transmission you have in your vehicle, and they didn't think it made them special or was exceptionally difficult to do.

Also I don't think you quite understood the meaning of "any idiot can.."
