Brake Rotors

Can our brake rotors be turned? Or do they just need to be replaced?

I have cycled through several different pads and my brakes arent grabbing like they should be.

gonna need more information than that to answer your questions.

- how many miles on the rotors???
- what type of brake pads are you using ??
- is there a lip on the rotors?
- do you track your car regularly ?
- whats your definition of they dont grab like they should be. ??? Whats your baseline reference point to give you that opinion

Don't see why not as long as post machining the thickness is greater than what is stamped on the rotor.

Buy a new set of rotor on fcp euro and get free replacement for life

That's better than every other option

Yes, you can turn the rotors, no issue there. Just keep in mind that you're really killing the life of the rotor by doing so, better to sand off any deposits, or just use race pads on them for a bit to do the same thing.

Just looking for another option besides spending $600/axle to replace.

The fronts are around 28.8mm, I haven't measured the rears.

I tried the "race pad" thing, I have used hawk DTC60, PFC-10 and Ferodo DS1.11 as well as two different street pads on these rotors. The rotors have about 25,000 miles including about 20 trackday.

The car was recently retired from track duty, I'm just trying to extend the life of the rotors while I still have the car.

20 track days... so your rotors are done. thats why... good chance they are glazed over.... thats why its not gripping like it use to.. i'd say you need new rotors completely.

Yes, M2 rotors can be turned, but good luck finding anyone who will turn them. I spent much time looking for my rotors to be turned. I went to many National Auto Supply Co's who said they could turn them, only to be called later and said "they are too thick for their Turning machines". I went to many Auto Repair Shops who said they don't Turn Rotors. I went to Truck Repair Shops who said they don't turn rotors anymore. They are able to be Turned, but you will have to pay a Machine Shop to do it. 28.4 MM is Min thickness. I am looking for a Machine Shop to do mine, so I can swap out Track Rotors for DD Rotors.

Thank you SO MUCH for this info!!! The dealer wanted almost $2K for front brake rotors, pads and wear sensor.

I just ordered a kit from these guys that includes all of those parts for $971.00!!

And it's the last time you'll pay for these parts

You'll only have to pay to ship back the used parts to them next time

$2K is a crazy price. Considering that OEM disc and pads are shit.

They charge 1000€ in France for the same job.
