Coilover Knock/Clunk

Hello,

I recently had my AST 5100s rebuilt for my 2018 M2. The last month I had them prior to being rebuilt, there was this loud clunk that would occur while going over bumps or potholes. I recently picked up the rebuilt coils and the noise is still there. I just got new end links but those didn't seem to resolve it. It seems to only be coming from the passenger side front, and is noticeable up to 40 mph. On the freeway, there is no noise even when the road shifts significantly or I go over bumps.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

If the issue is not obvious why not drop back in the oem left front and see if the noise disappears. This will be a quick test to see if it is the damper or something else in the front end.

Common areas to check are all bolts on the arms, lthe pinch bolt on the damper, if there is play in the camber plate spherical joint or if the top nut is loose

Check out this tread. The steering rack. It solved the clunk noise for most people.

I’m pretty sure that’s the clunk you have. Because I had the same problem and I followed the recommendation from the tread and fixed my issue.
