I am looking into getting a set of 18" squared wheels for my OG M2 and wanting to see what people are running. I need some inspiration! I know Apex is the most common set up out there (they are one of the top contenders for me currently) but wanting to see what other options are available.

Car will be mainly used for spirited driving and track days.

Pictures would be helpful!

Thanks!

I'm partial to the 513M, plus they light AF.

Apex is cool but found their offset and options combined with what tire brand and sizes I wanted, it was a bit of a hassle. Great wheels for the money, but I ultimately went with BMW 513M from the M3/M4. No worries about offsets, sizing, tires, etc. Running these with Michelin Pilot Sport 4s tires 245/265 and it has improved the car in so many ways.

245/40 and 265/40? Or 35 series? Any pics?

BimmerWorld TA16 18x9.5" ET35 Wheel Set - F87 M2.
These work well with 10mm front spacer and 265/35/18 square.

513m is probably my favorite option, my only drawback to them is I've never seen anyone run the 18x10 +40 (the rear size) on a square setup. This is what I'd want to do.

You'd have to run a big spacer. 15mm at least. Check Apex's fitment guide and do the math on the offset. Probably will need camber plates as well.

Yea.. Thats why a lotta people go with ET35. decent for the rear and you won't need massive spacers on the front for a square setup.

I run 18x10 ET35 Apex EC7. 5mm spacers in the rear and 12mm in the front. Also camber at about -2.75. Can run 265 35 18 r comp tires with no rubbing. Might be able to squeeze 275s up there as well, haven't tried.

What R comps come in that size? I wish Nitto had them

Lots do.

Toyo R888r
Federal RSR-R
Nitto NT05's (I dont think the NT01's come in 265)
Bridgestone RE-71r

You'd have to jump up to 275/35r18 for some of the more hardcore tires. (NT01's, R7s, etc)

RE71R are not r comps, but I'm well aware of their capabilities.

I wouldn't even consider the NT05. Garbage. Have not used Federal. I have Toyos currently but won't be trying them until later this week.

One of the worst tires I tried...total garbage. BFG R1 comes in 265/35/18 and is an excellent track tire with good durability.

Also not a track tire per se, but has anyone experienced the Advan Neova AD08R on the track? Any comparisons with these other tires?

My first 18” set was the cheapo Tirerack set. They warped on me after 10 track days. I like to think it was bc I was driving so fast.

My second 18” set was Apex EC-7 18x9.5” ET35 and I’d run 265s all around. Worked well.

I wanted more rear grip, so I tried 19x9.5/10.5 ET33/45 and ran 265/295-305. Massive rear grip coming off the corners.

Now I want more front grip/response and different tire choices, so I have a set of forged EC-7 18x10/10.5 ET25/40 coming and will try 265/295 & 275/305.

I’ve tried the 71R, R888R, Trofeo R, R7s, and Falkens and they all have pros/cons, but I don’t really want to go back to any of them. So, will try the A052 as my fast tire and NT01 as my budget tire, or some Pirelli and Michelin take off slicks for fun.
