Not sure. I paid cash so that wasn't a factor, however, I didn't even sign the purchase agreement with the dealer before I left for the ED. They said on pickup. Didn't have to give them the cash until then either (minus the deposit) though I did also give them my trade before I left.

BTW, my three day PDI is now 5. Had a message from them that the earliest delivery slot would be Tuesday (and they received it first thing this Wednesday). I raised hell and I now get it Monday night...big whoop.

You mean you haven't paid for the car yet? That's strange. I certainly had to pay for the car in full before I left for ED. Maybe in your case, your dealer is treating this like a normal non-ED delivery, where the dealer pays BMW before car leaves Germany and customer pays at local pickup.

Hmm.. sounds like they won't automatically do it unless requested by the customer. Maybe I should talk to my SA.

I'm wondering how much difference it makes. IIUC, most of the hold up is at VPC. Once the car makes it out of there, it takes 3 days to get to Ontario by train which seems like a reasonable time. Would it be noticeably faster by truck?

I was actually surprised. Before I left I traded in the vehicle and got a bank draft for the difference. When I went to give it to them they said it would all be done when the car arrived here. I thought that was strange.

I can't see how truck would be any less than 2 days so truck saves, MAYBE, 1 day?

My personal experience was:

Land in Halifax June 19th
Depart Halifax by rail on the 26th (and had to have M Performance Exhaust port installed before leaving)
Arrive in Toronto 29th
Arrive in Kitchener via Hansen's early am on the 4th of July
Delivery scheduled for July 9th

In all, 20 days from Halifax arrival to delivery at dealer. FYI, dropped off after ED in Munich on May 16th so 34 days from drop off (late in the day) to arrival in Halifax. Total time, 54 days or 2 days shy of 8 weeks. Was always told 6-8 weeks, just hoped it would be the earlier side of that estimate.

That is strange as I pay for the due on delivery before my ED. Also my lease already started before I even leave for ED.

Dropped off at Munich - May 31
Departed from port - June 15
Arrived at Halifax - June 27
In limbo - July 6

I guess I shouldn't complain since the ride to Halifax is slightly faster than yours

Trucking save around 4 days, because once your car offloaded from the rail, they still need to arrange Hansen to pick it up which takes another couple of days.

Finally picked up the car yesterday, was a surreal moment to say the least. It still hasn't quite seeped in but wanted to give a huge shout out to Ethan for tracking the car for the past month or so, really helped with the torturous wait.

For the folks that are waiting on their car, I know the feeling and the pain but should consider ourselves lucky that we know someone who has access to CN system. Summer 18 is finally here!!

You may want to check Hansen's tracking when you have time. It might pop up there instead.

I've been doing that myself (checking Hansen's tracking site at https://www.lhf.com/en/tracking). No dice so far.

Exactly why do we think this will be a long wait? There's no bad weather, strikes, or anything else that would be a holdup, as far as I know.
