That car was a disappointment, ordered a 2015 model and it's quite clear I should have waited a bit longer as the car didn't feel finished. The engine was tuned to be very spiky, effectively just offer a ton of boost down low and ignore creating a linear power curve. The adaptive suspension rode fine but didn't feel all that capable for tight canyon roads. The steering and diff tuning were early iterations that improved later in the model run. I do think it looked amazing, like a DTM racecar for the street.
I recently drove the M4 CS with carbon brakes so I know what the platform is capable of, stupendous car. Quote:

I had a 2005 Carrera S Launch Edition and 2008 Carerra, certainly fun cars and I like the 997 platform a lot. But I actually replaced the 911 S with the F80 M3. The adaptive suspension of the 997.1 S was not impressive, either it was floaty and sort of leapfrogged down the road or it was rock hard with little give for normal backroad driving. I actually preferred the somewhat soft but very controllable stock suspension of my 997.1, could drive the wheels off that thing. I love Porsche though, a GT3 is on the list when I can afford it.

Really nice, thanks. I've got two choices, this or BSM which also becomes the car, but owning black as you well know is a commitment of labor.

No, I like plenty of light. Going without a moonroof even was a huge step for me . Maybe some CF bits once this is all over, but that's it.

Before somebody says how this is a "sports car", it has to be no sunroof, or higher cog, etc. let me remind them it is already a porker. And personally, I have no intention of tracking this car. It's purely an aesthetics and experience play for me.

What's the orange light in the headlight? Hazards on? My headlights seem quite different. |

Having said that, I've been moonroof-less for almost 5 month now, and the windows down is plenty for me. The air flow in the M2 is also decent so you dont get that shuttering with the windows cracked. I've also had terrible experience with BMW moon roofs. Both previous ones had rattles and all kinds of sounds, and one likes to trap water in the housing somewhere and spit it out at me when I have the roof open and I hit the brakes. Just saying, I dont regret my decision at all. |
