Thanks!
The grills just pop off from behind. If you look carefully you can see the snap points.

The center trim piece just pops off too. You need to use trim panel pry tools and go slowly so you don't scratch anything.

Yes, they require spacers. The back of the sub bottoms out in the enclosure. But with 1/4" spacer, it worked for me. Fit under the stock grills too.

Yep. Installed today. I used a 3/8" plexi ring and broke the "wings" off the bottom of the box. The speaker was hitting that with the ring. Definitely way more bass. But missing some detail. I have 160 watts per channel so they have plenty of power!

Did you have any trouble mounting the Morel crossovers in the door? Do you have a picture of the crossovers mounted? I'm getting ready to do a similar install.

Thanks,

No trouble mounting the crossovers. I didn't get pics, but they mount in the front corner of the door panels. There's a sticker on the backside you need to get rid of and then clean the area with rubbing alcohol.

Damaged PP82DSP

Need some advice. My stuff:

2019 m550i (HK)
Morel Hybrid 402
Earthquakes
PP82DSP
Mobridge DA-1
JL RD 500/1
JL Audio 10W3v3-2
Visual Ice enclosure

Had a 2016 F10 550 (HK). All this was installed, minus the Visual sub enclosure. I had a Musicar enclosure. They don't make one for the G30. VI made one for me (much cheaper). Everything worked perfectly in the F10. Everything installed in the G30, but the remote out from the DA won't power on the DSP. Assuming the remote wire connects to the remote OUT on the DSP. Not sure why there isn't a remote IN on this model. I decided to tap into a 12v outlet and run the wire to the remote OUT on the DSP. It worked! Not sure why. Any thoughts?

During the install, the USB cable, which was connected to the USB port on the DSP, got caught and snapped off the connector. I tried soldering it back on with no success. During the process, I dropped some solder onto the motherboard, and now it won't power on. I know, rookie mistake. Now I'm debating whether to get another 82 or "upgrade" to another model. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I searched the 5 series forum, but couldn't find what I was looking for, that's why I'm posting this here. Hope that's cool.

Thanks!

@jpt99
The morel hybrids are very power hungry, I’d change out the pp82dsp for the improved P Six DSP, it has the latest DSP software and provides the necessary power for this system, you’ve got great hardware on the speakers, they deserve a premium amplifier

As previously mentioned, I'd go with the P-Six, especially if you have a dedicated sub amp. While the UP7 is a good unit, the P-Six is in another league. The UP7, like the PP82, is geared more for convenience, while the P-Six is geared more towards Sound Quality.

Well now you've got me thinking! Ha. I'm sure the Morels would live the extra power, but will I have any issues with the earthquakes and rear HKs? Is it as simple as decreasing the gains?

Decrease?! I'd say they were severely UNDERpowered, depending on their impedance. As for the rears, disconnect them

Does anyone have experience with the eton stealth 7.1 bmw amplifier in an f87?

Is it a better alternative to the match up7?

Looks convenient as it's plug and play, and you can also adjustable it via app instead of USB and laptop...

Also I've used Bimmercode to code out ASD. Will changing amplifier bring ASD back or will it still be disabled?

I can't answer your question Ridinwide1, but I recommend posting something in the 2addicts version of this forum. They have a lot more traffic and their audio system is obviously the same as ours.

It would be nice if bimmerpost found a way to merge forums for stuff like this.

Thanks for the tip. Just talked to a local shop that had different files match up7 files for the 2 series and they also told me ASD would not return when I change the amp, so I'm good

What doesn't work? Works fine in my M2C with the Match Up 7BMW.

The technic harness only loops the audio wires so there no reason it shouldn't work.

There was an issue years ago where the harness was pinned wrong but that was a long time ago.
