285/35 rears & coilovers
Wondering if anyone is running 285/35/19 rears (oem wheels no spacers) and coilovers? If so any additional rubbing issues with extra suspension travel the coilovers may allow?
I've bought some Ohlins R&T, not planning to lower the car but instead want to utilise the extra compression travel to fix the stock problem of violent bounce off the rear oem bump stops. I had very slight rubbing from the PS4s 285/35's at the back of the lining at full compression (stock suspension) but that seems to have stabilised. Wondering if I'm going to have rubbing issues up higher with the coilovers? |

Go 285/30 19 on the rear and 265/30 on the front mate...I am running that setup now and the handling is beautiful.
My F&R wheels have -6mm offset compared to stock and no rubbing on standard suspension. Since you are going to get coilovers you can drop the car with the aforementioned sizes with no rubbing |

I can imagine your set-up handles well, I prefer the bigger rear tyre on track and twisty mountain roads, hopefully they'll work with the coilovers. |

I just dropped mine on a set of tc Kline coils. I’m still on winters 255/35r19 square, but will be switching to 265/35 front and 285/35 rears in a couple weeks. I’ll post pics when I do the switch over. I’m hoping no rub. I’m dropped at least an inch at current settings.

The difference between OEM tire size and 265/30 and 285/30 seems to be only .3 inch (around 7mm) and even less with 295/30.

Our roads are bad enough that I’d still like more cushion even with 35s and Dinan HAS. |

So have my summers on now. 285/35 and 265/35 on stock 437’s. Running tc Kline coils dropped about an inch all around. Running over 3 degree’s Front camber (waiting for wheel alignment to know for sure where it’s at). 12.5 mm front spacer and I get a slightest rub on sharp cornering w compression. Rear is fine. I used a heat gun to reshape the fender liner a bit to make the rub nearly go away. It only happens once in a while and is very minor. I think I’ll drop my fronts to 255/35 next set. I’m only on street with these Pss tires. And I want to keep it comfortable for daily driving. will run ps4s next time around. I have a different dedicated set for autocross, square re71r’s in 285/30r18.
Note I’m a 2017 m2. |

My 285/35r19 sottozero serie 2 snow tires rub on semi-hard impact to a road bump. My mechanic and I looked it over and didn't see any rubbing anywhere, so I came to the conclusion it was hitting the bump stop. However, we didn't take the wheel off and check the fender liner (only looked at it with the wheel on) so it's possible there was rubbing where we didn't see.
When I had him install the coilovers, I gave him the Dinan specs to lower it to. Which is 3/4" front and 1/2" rear. So that should be my settings for them. I also have the KW v3 2 clicks stiffer than the factory settings. |

Yeah I do feel the 265 width of the front is too much on the stock width up front. Definitely loss of turn in feel. Especially with the pss. I dunno exactly what I’m doing yet, for sure 255/35 fronts but rear I’m torn, do I stick with 285/35 or drop to 275/35 and run a spacer in rear to get the flush look? I just love the fat tires. And they fill out the fenders gap so well with the increased diameter.

As for the 285, I don't think the added width is needed over the 275 unless you're going past OTS Stage 2. For me, I use my PS4S's on the street and as a rain tire on track, so I may even go back to 275s just to more easily kick out the back end out on the street for fun. |

apologies, have just seen your post. Here are pics after install of the Ohlins, front lowered 10mm + 5mm spacers, rear lowered 6-8mm (not exactly certain as I forgot to note fuel level when I measured oem) & no spacers.
No rubbing up front and no further rubbing rear (have done a couple of good country drives which should have revealed any problems). |

Just installed 265/35 F and 275/35 R, federal RSRs on the 437s for upcoming Zandvoort TD and Assen to follow. I'm lowered on KW V3 (max height), camber set ~ -2.5 and the fronts tire fitment was a PITA to get dialed in (fender liner had to be "modified"). Should have gone 255/35 as these tires seem to run even wider than their spec. Will definitely go 255 next time on 437s |
