Bootmod3 and spark plugs

I seem to have fouled a plug at a track event today, having issues with cyl 3 misfiring. Started off really shutting and thrower a soft code. Over time got way better and no more codes but can feel some shuddering.

I’m just running stage1 93 with 94 oct gas and upgraded charge pipes intercooler and downpipe.

What plugs are recommended and what are they recommended being gapped to?

Would recommend running a 91 tune or stock for track days

Might do that from now on before getting a custom tune, I’ve logged a 93 stage 1 a few times and haven’t seen any knock but I suppose better safe than sorry. I don’t think that would have caused the plugs to foul though?

Any recommendations on plugs and spacing?

I recommend NGK colder plugs but they are currently on back order. Check with PTF on what other plugs they recommend

Hi BeePee,

Re these plugs, please can you let me know if you got them from BMW under their part number? If so, did them come gaped correctly (with the gap Bootmod3 suggest) or did you have to alter the gap yourself?

My car is in for a service tomorrow and I pretty sure the plugs are due, so will ask them to put in a step colder if possible. Not sure if they will go for it, but worth asking.

Cheers.

ALWAYS check gap prior to installation. For those looking for the NGK 97506, the cheapest I've found them (and where I ordered mine from) was Rock Auto. They're between 12 and 13 dollars each there.
