Story:
Ever since I took delivery of my DCT M2 back in November 2016, I knew I had serious plans for it. The turbo 6 was a big part of why I decided on the M2. I broke my planned mods into 4 phases. First was the cosmetic stuff which I completed before I took the car to the clear bra & ceramic pro shop. Second was the performance phase which I wanted to complete as quickly as possible after the break in period... (the mods don't get cheaper so I figured I would want to enjoy them for as long as possible ) Third will be tires, brakes, and suspension. The fourth phase was my dreamer phase...maybe Pure Stage 2.

Right around the time I really stared putting my performance mods list together proTUNING Freaks released their bootmod3 beta for the F series. My previous car was a FBO NA BRZ so I was comfortable with flashing and was pretty certain it would be the way to go for my M2. Through researching bootmod3 I found out about SSR Performance. Although they were 400 miles away I wanted to get everything done to my car in one stop and have my DME unlocked/flashed by the bootmod3 specialist. Through talking to them about my plans I was blown away by their customer service and eagerness to help me. So over the holidays I decided to make the trip down to Southern California and get this mod list done.
- DME unlock and bootmod3 flash
- Eventuri intake
- Pure inlet
- ER Downpipe
- Wagner Evo 2 comp intercooler (I wanted HUGE and light without cutting)
- FTP hardpipes (GREAT fitment)
- DV+

Curveball:
Unfortunately after getting there I found out that I supplied the wrong DV+. All M2 DV+ need to be modified to fit. Because I was already in Southern California I reached out to Pure Turbos to see if they could help me out. I figured I would drive over there, grab the correct DV+ and get it installed. Long story short, after some encouragement and amazing willingness to absorb a huge workload from SSR Performance... I ended up purchasing the Pure Turbos Stage 2 kit . The stories you have heard about Pure Turbos are all true. Their garage is a freaking lab and they have AWESOME customer service. SSR Performance literally worked through the night and completed the entire build in less than one day. These guys didn't sleep, stepped up huge, and did an awesome job

Happy:
From the moment I drove away from SSR Performance, the Pro Tuning Freaks team has been amazing to work with. After rounds of logging and map revisions I am currently running their version 5 Pure Stage 2 93oct map. Every single revision has had noticeable increases in both power and smoothness. These guys have developed an incredibly polished flashing and logging solution. We knew going into it that the dreaded N55 HPFP on pump gas would be the bottleneck. As you will see in the results below, 6k+ the car is running out of fuel. Once I decide on either an E85 or meth solution I am excited to see what Pro Tuning Freaks can squeeze out of my build

Results:
Regrettably, I didn't do a baseline dyno on my car. BUT IND did share their baseline DCT-M2-93oct 5th gear pull on dynojet with me. 336hp and 371tq. THANK YOU IND! My results below are DCT-M2-93oct doing a 5th gear pull also on a dynojet. 436hp and 565tq, 100hp and 194tq gained! 2nd gear is an absolute joke, 3rd gear I'm struggling for traction
Nice man. I have same issues on my car in 1st and 2nd and 3rd even at speed. LOL...

I wanted to share with you.

I noticed you had a crapura too? I was pulling out and this woman who picked up her XXL triple burger from BurgerKing ran into my car as she was swallowing whole the entire meal deal in one shot. When she got out of her rusted out tercel with special sauce and chocolate milkshake all over her giant belly, the front of my car was in bits, this yeti in her pink jogging suit appeared to have ran a stop sign. Luckily when they fixed my crappy gsr, it it drove like a honda which means just as bad as when it was new like a crapura. On the yeti's car the only thing that was wrong, was some of the rust fell off and she got a flat tire. Well that did not stop her from getting another BK flaming special. The best day of that cars ownership, was when I sold it.

[QUOTE=quikM2;21137738]What do you think the M2 would like better as I have no 93 octane here like shell vpower with no ethanol. We only have 91 with zero ethanol or Husky/Mohawk carries 94 with 10% ethanol? On stock tune does it matter?[/QUOTE

Where do you live?
Moose factory? Husky is for big rigs and peterbilt's. Just asking man, cuz it sounds like its damn cold when you say that.

Pretty nice numbers, that torque is what tuned M57 diesels are putting down.

Once my current setup is done I will probably go with whatever proTUNING Freaks recommends for fueling.

ya adding another variable is what scares me. BUT I do want to finish off my build... at this point I'm in so deep I sort of have to lol
At the top end you are playing a game with power versus how cold/dense the air is at the time. You can run 17 psi in the summer but only 14/15 in the winter depends on how cold it gets. I am doing 16-17 right now and when it's under 70F I need to lift at the redline to keep it from breaking up from lack of fuel.

The dinan $229 diy or $899 pnp fuel upgrade is going to help on long pulls at high speeds where the low pressure pump will run out and you should get a idrive screen and limp mode. The HPFP running dry has never set a code just acted like I hit a fuel cut rev limiter :-D

Have fun! I am doing the Meth system as well and you can buy the BMS tank separately for 230 bux right now. I am using BPC flash only but I think I am going to have bootmod3 setup so I can do a meth and no meth tune.

gas engines are slowly becoming gas/diesel hybrids with DI and high boost and compressions. I hear they might start getting particulate filters soon.

One thing m2 guys should feel good about is our DV already is an improved version and probably 18psi capable rated from factory.

Again what is your boost with bigger turbo?
Looks like 17psi is my max with a taper to 14 at the top end.
That's a whole lot of air stg2 turbo is making for that boost. Impressive efficiency! Shame N55 has been fueling limited for its entire life span nobody offered a solution.
I agree, you would have thought that by this time someone would have offered a solution as i am not wanting to run meth or PI. For those with access to E85 i think more of us would opt for additional upgrades.

Where is the video of a straight-line acceleration run or even a dyno pull at max tune????

You probably need to get stickier tires and a full aero-kit otherwise you could fly off the road as it was designed with the power it originally was supposed to have. It went from like GT4 to GT1/2 territory with that much power.
You're probably right. I will need to do engine oil, tranny oil, and diff oil changes more frequently. Part of the game I guess. Tires/suspension/brakes are all in the works (nothing crazy)... should all be on the car within the next week or two.

I will be going back to the dyno once my 93oct tune is finalized. Version 6 which I am currently running is very close. 6k hiccup is now at 6.5k+.

Well honestly part of the solution is a flash tune because you can actually adjust fueling etc. But you're right after the flash tune the actual OEM hardware quickly runs out of headroom.

Also BIG THANKS for all the positive posts on this thread. Never thought I would make the front page of BimmerPost

moose factory? Asking if thats where I live sounds ignorant. To answer - no it's not. Are we seriously worrying about the optics of our gas station we now use? As in husky isn't classy enough to fill a BMW up??

Pretty close actually by saying Moose Factory lol...Winnipeg is the worst city I've ever lived and I lived in Island Lakes which was decent. Husky in Winnipeg is most definitely for big rigs...and their 94 blend is sketchy at best. Only would ever run Shell VPower 91. Get back to your ice castle and stop getting offended.

wasn't offended actually, was just rolling my eyes at something I assume was supposed to be a joke that made no sense and wasn't funny.

Boostane, if you buy the 5 gallon drum you can move a tank of 91oct to 93oct for under $9.

Great reading, and congrats on a wonderful and great car. I have one question right now. Why did you choose the Eventuri intake, and not the more expensive Gruppe M? I am from Sweden and when I ask about intakes almost everyone says: go for the Gruppe M, it costs more - but there is a reason for that. That is Why I find it interesting to here from someone who went with Eventuri. Thx.

Didn't know about the Gruppe M option when I was making my mod purchases late November. I think I would have still gone with the Eventuri option though. Less money and overall I like the design. The heat soak worries for me aren't significant because of how the well the air scoop works. You can literally just blow and feel the air freely reach the intake filter. If I was sitting there idling for a few minutes I could imagine there being heat soak, but the moment you start driving you are probably enjoying that cold air.

Very well done! Did you try jb4 prior to going bootmod? According to pure it will net very similar results, but I'm not convinced. Jb4 cars feel so inconsistent.
Clutch packs holding up?

Good luck !
