M2 Comp Seat in OG M2

For anyone who has swapped either the M2 Comp or M4 seat into an OG M2 and done the required coding, do you know if the airbag in the seat will work in the event of a crash?

I am interested in purchasing a M2 Comp seat for my OG M2 but I would not like to sacrifice any of the safety features that came with the original seat. Thank you for you time!

Ugh oh, someone’s wife is on to em. Next question from her, “Did they validate it with a crash test facilitated by the NHTSA?”

If bothering with a seat swap, I’d definitely jump to an M3/4 seat. Merino leather is quite a step up from Dakota. There are quite a few threads and DIY info out there.

I'd be really bothered by the mismatched leather and stitching, personally.

Upgrade is super straight forward.

1. Acquire M2 comp seat
2. Unplug battery
3. Take out old OG M2 seats
4. swap bottom modules between the seats
5. Swap seat belt retention onto new seats
6. Install new seats
7. Re-connect battery
8. Start car as normal and it should all work (no errors in my case for any airbags/seat belts)

Since the seat functions and airbags are triggered through the seat module (which are functionally the same, just different coding for specific models I believe), all you need to do swap them over and the car shouldn't recognize a difference.

The battery disconnect is specific to the seat belt since that throws an error when disconnected I believe.

^Literally that.

I put M4 non-comp seats into an OG M2 just like this and no complains, only smiles.

Why M2C seats are so overpriced I'll never know .

Merino feels waaay better. Either way, just save the OG seats for when sale day comes and no one can complain.

In addition to the above, always feed a towel through the rear boot latch and fold the rear seats forward. if you disconnect the batter and close the boot accidentally, you are basically screwed.
