Does the M2 Perf Diffuser cover the muffler?

I'm trying to find pics with the M2 Performance Diffuser on an M2 Competition but I can't find any that take "ideal" shots of the rear end.

Does anyone know if you install the M2 Performance Diffuser that it will cover the ugly muffler or does it still stick out?

No it does not. I have seen it in person at the LA auto show. It might help the overall looks very slightly but not by much.

to answer your question, no... it does not cover the muffler. the diffuser looks great though!

on another note, the muffler doesn't seem to bother me as much as it does to some others. if anything, i'd like to think the car has really big balls

You can see that shit from space. Nothing is covering it up. Couple of nice aftermarket options out there already...and more to come I'm sure.

If the performance diffuser can reach nearly to the road below the car, it would probably cover it. The one below might cover it, but what do you cover it with?

I just installed the Diffuser from my OG M2 onto my new M2Comp. It's a perfect fit, but it does not cover the muffler. BTW, I miss the MPE from my OG M2.

^ I'm in the same boat. I'd really like to paint it, but would like remove it from the car so the full muffler can be sprayed. I found the TIS for removing the full exhaust on an M2C here: https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f...tem/1VnXDDn7Qd

Internally debating on whether or not this is something I can tackle at home in the garage.

If I knew a local shop in SoCal that could do this relatively inexpensively I would. I'm going to have to visit an old bodyshop I used to frequent or ask a friend if he can do it(owns a bodyshop).

I dont want to smell fumes, buy a respirator or get underneath the car and overspray(sorry I'm beyond this life, I used to do this sort of stuff when I was younger).

I don't plan to do this as I plan to buy a performance exhaust in future.

In future someone will make one for sure, including BMW. Yes it maybe a while. I'm saving the money for this as compared to painting the muffler.

I had a go today at spraying the exhaust. Covered the exhaust tips and bumper a bit in case any paint in the air stuck to the car, but in the end it probably wasn't necessary as you're spraying such a small, localised area.

It went quite well, the paint ran a bit in areas, so I had to go over some parts twice. We'll see how it holds up over the next few weeks.

I used a standard high temp (600c) matte black spray paint from a local parts shop.

I quite like the standard steel silencer. Looks kind of purposeful.

Guess I'm in the minority, but saves me the hassle of painting it and in Northern Europe winter with salt, grit, cold, wet, the paint would only last a few days/weeks anyway.

I’m totally doing this. But I’m dropping the exhaust, using a primer, then painting. I want full adhesion. Lol. That muffler is ridiculous

That looks much better! I'm really surprised BMW didn't do this from the factory. It's not like they didn't see that this was an eye sore.

My guess is that the paint/etc that they would have to use would be fairly expensive to apply to every car because it can't peel off or degrade in all weather conditions like snow, salt, etc. Otherwise, they would get a million warranty claims.

Just a guess.

What if they just used black steel?

Well I’m still on my paint quest but I’m waiting for the weather to fall within the recommended tolerances according to vht. (60-95 degrees and <30% humidity). It’s like 52-55 here. I know it’s close but If I’m going to do it I’m doing it in optimal conditions because I don’t want this flaking at all.
