Bad idea… Ask me how I know - itll eventually look worse than leaving it unpainted.

There will be a better solution eventually… Hopefully with the m performance exhaust system

There were some pics from the Paris auto show, and the M performance exhaust was mounted on the M2C there - it looked to be roughly the same size and shape (maybe a little smaller?) as the stock one.

Might have to go true aftermarket (aka, not M performance) to address the cow udder.

It was just the angle. Based on the pic below, M2C MPE seems pretty much the same size as M3/M4 MPE. I don't think MPE muffler is anywhere near as big as the stock one.

I don't know...this looks rather saggy to me....I imagine it would be even worse (as the stock one is) from further back.

It looks like it's the same height or worse but not as wide.

Yea it does look low in those pics, not sure why. But it's definitely not as wide as the stock exhaust and supposedly near 18lbs lighter. I remember seeing pics from Nurburgring where M2C with M performance parts was presented and I believe the car from Paris autoshow is the same car. It didn't look it hung that low but I guess pics from Paris have better angle. These are the pics I'm talking about from Nurburgring event:

Also just to show how wide stock muffler is (this is for M4 stock exhaust system vs M4 MPE but I believe the difference for between the M2C stock and MPE mufflers will be similar, if not more):

BMW has to be using all that volume to try and resonate a lower, deeper sound. I dunno...I just can't do anything but laugh that it's so damn big (<cptobvious voice> That's what she said! </cptobvious voice> )

Seriously, just straight pipe it and use the muffler volume as secondary fuel storage... My bet is another 9-10 gallons easy

That guy is a real live hero. He stopped one of his shows to help a woman in the audience that was having a seizure. Apparently he is a licensed medical Dr.

LOL! Nah, nothing to do with your voice, but I just couldn't leave that softball pitch hanging there for you to hammer w/a much needed "That's what she said!"

BTW, I did assume James Earl Jones......

Has it held up well? Did you go thru the curing process?

It's still looks good. I did this a few months back. I just cleaned it well taped off everything and sprayed it, did like 3 coats.

Also this is a daily through the rain, car wash and gravel roads.

I plan on removing it and having it ceramic coated with JetHot or the like. Same thing they use on race headers/manifolds.

Big, big, big ASS thank you to sly1types !!!

Used VHT matte black per your recommendation. Just used masking tape to protect the exhaust tips, and applied 3 coats. Easy enough just lie down and spray away. (Though, I do have a bit of a headache from breathing in the fumes. So, you know, if nobody sees me on the forum over the next couple of days, maybe someone call 911?)

Now you see it... now you don't!

Nah, man. I just laid down in the driveway, put my body halfway under the car, stuck my arm out, and pointed the can upward. So, granted, I probably didn't do the best job. If somebody got up really close, I'm sure they'd see all sorts of imperfections, but who's gonna lie down in the road to really get up close and personal with somebody else's muffler, right?

Also, the haphazard spraying is probably why I inhaled so many fumes. Honestly, I thought about putting on one of those surgical mask thingies, but I didn't want to perpetuate any Asian stereotypes amongst my caucasian neighbors. Like, here, in the States, whenever I see a fellow Asian wearing one of those masks, I always want to pull them aside and say, "Yo, yo, yo... I know that's the height of fashion where we come from, but we don't really do that here."

I'll keep everyone updated as to whether it stays on, or needs constant re-application.
