M-lite cars are tremendous examples, and while the ZF8 speed is fantastic, the analog feel of rowing gears is what drove me to an M2 versus a new M240i. Yes, the new M240i exceeds a lot of what an OG M2 provides. It's all what you value. |

if it wasnt for covid a nice LCI would be in the 35-40K range, now that everything is +10K it sounds more financially sensible to go for the new M240i route.
is the "M" aura a real thing for daily driving or is it an impression we feel once the badge is there? |

The point I want to make is that it looks that we follow the "M" train and not the performance/ tech /value / reliability reasoning. It would be very inserting to see a real test between G42 and an LCI as both cars cost $50K while being 4 years part. Sure the G42 will depreciate fast but what will happen to the OG prices once the G87 is out |

I was also pondering what will happen to the OG M2 prices when the G87 comes out - looking at some other brand trends (Lotus Evora, Porsche air / water cooled, Acura NSX), I wouldn't be surprised if they stay steady or actually climb a tiny bit. I don't see them tanking in price like some of the M-line cars have.
Is there better value out there? Sure, depending on what you consider value. Are there faster cars out there? Yup. Does the M2 put as big a smile on my face driving it as my old 964 did? Yes, and then some! Bottom line is, the M2 is a complete blast to drive plain and simple and will be for a long time to come and that is key to it's appeal. As the newest (most expensive) versions of the M2 come out, interest piques and people often go to the "next best, but cheaper, thing" - so, M2C will see even more demand as will the OG M2, especially for those that love the N55 engine.

Hard to see how a $61-63K G87 M2 will make the M2C more expensive than they are today. unless it comes as a full digital beast with an ICE, then people might jump on the 1st gen M2's as the "last analogue" good looking M car.

True, I thought the G87 was going to list higher.

According to this dealership video, the price of the M3 is going up $2500. on cars built after Jan. 1, 2022. Most other models are also getting a price bump.

2017-2018 M2s are around $60k cad in my area. They were only $63k cad new wtf lol.
Do you think prices on these will drop when the new M2 is out? I can't imagine 60k for a 4-5 year old car when a brand new way better one will probably only be $78k |

Is it just me or did OG prices edge even higher over the past 3-6 months?
I was thinking 50k was the ceiling for lightly used OG M2s but see some trading in the 50s? Is a black 2017 slicktop 6MT with 18k miles really a 53-55k car to the right person? |
