congrats on the pickup! its awesome to see different perspectives during the car purchasing stage. the chase is definitely almost always the most fun stages (second to driving it daily and enjoying the hell out of it of course). In the process of getting an OG M2, maybe I should have test driven the Comp

Just an update, had have car for a few years and 20K miles... and still in love and planning to keep for a long time. Today's owerweight oversized frankenstain monsters from BMW do not impress me at all, they completely lost it with exterior design

Want to add E30 M3 to the stable but that's whole another story

2019 BMW 540  [0.00]
I'm going to revitalize this thread . I am also thinking about buying a 2019 BMW M2CS. I recently paid off my 540. I will most likely be selling the 540 for the M2. I'm looking at two M2's. I kind of want something that will appreciate in value vs. depreciate like the 540. I think the F87 M2 will appreciate in value like a lot of other M-model BMWs.

First one: https://www.elmhurstbmw.com/inventor...s.com_deeplink

Second one: https://www.mcofchicago.com/vehicle-...970f976ab60b18

I like the second one mainly because of the miles and the fact that it has had two owners vs. four. But the second one had the engine replaced at 4k miles, which is kind of odd. I might go look at the one at the BMW dealership on Friday.

My main issue is, that I tend to "overthink". I don't like pulling the trigger on things asap. Especially when it's a good hunk of cash being spent. Plus, the fact that I'll be losing at least $15k selling the 540 I've thought about an E92 M3 also. But, those don't seem to be coming down in price anytime soon. These two M2s seem pricy also IMHO.

I bought my M2C from motorcars of Chicago and would recommend doing business with them. When you find the right car for yourself that is. Take your time to find the spec you want. Don’t settle. Maybe look at the M4 CS they have. If it’s still there.

I don't want to go to crazy. Ideally don't want to spend more than 25k~ (factoring the money lll get for the 540).

The orange M2 is sharp. Rare color imho

Did they make an offer for the 540? You can haggle them, I did. Got the cars shipped for free as well

I don't think I'll trade it in unless I can get about 28k~ for it + tax savings. All I know is I will lose my rear end on the 540 . That's the only reason I hesitate to pull the trigger on a F87 M2CS or E92 M3.

I bought the 540 CPO in 2022 w/29k miles on it. It's got 39k~ miles on it right now. So, low miles for an almost 6-year-old car. I had a full-front PPF put on along with a ceramic coating. So, it's protected. But, kind of a waste of money if I do end up selling it. I don't drive it in the winter. That's what the Accord is for.

I wonder how many Sunset Orange M2CS were produced. I can't seem to find any numbers.

If you don't mind me asking, how negotiable are Motor cars of Chicago? I don't think that M2 is overpriced, but taking into consideration that it's got a new motor kind of scares me.

Well if it has a new motor I would talk to them about why and the fact it should be covered under warranty (if bmw did the engine replacement). The car I bought had an accident history and they put me in contact with the bmw dealer in Florida who did the repairs so I could find out the extent of the repair. In terms haggling, I got 2500 more for my trade (2020 M5C) then they initially offered, covered gab insurance, covered PPF, and shipping for my trade from Alabama, and the M2C I bought to Alabama. Bonus was my car also had the BMW ultimate care +2 service warranty on top of factory which go to mid 2026.

In a nutshell they are transparent and will assist you in doing research vs pressing a sale (at least in my experience).

Wait, Motor Cars of Chicago paid for a PPF? I sent them a cars.com request. Someone emailed me but never emailed me back regarding my question about the motor being replaced. It was replaced by an independent BMW Mechanic at 4600~ miles.

Since you were out of state, how did they appraise the car? I live about 2 hours away from them. If I can work numbers out over the phone, I might buy from them.

Car appraisal was done through VIN and pictures I requested/sent. I didn’t email them I called direct, never had any issues. Once the car arrived, they shipped the one I bought (2-day turnaround).

On the website site they provided the car fax. Don’t look at the car advertisement through cars.com, it might have all the details.

+1 (217) 416-7006 this is the dudes number. I think it’s his cell. Claimed to be part owner of the business. Either way didn’t matter to me. Great customer service

Yeah, I don't think I'll be doing this. The best offer I've gotten for the 540 is $28k+ tax savings. That's from Elmhurst BMW. They won't budge at all on the M2C price of $51,495. The car has one new tire, and the other three are originally from 2019. The tires are showing signs of wear and are starting to crack a bit. Plus 4 owners.

Maybe they'll call back before the year ends . But I don't think I want to spend $25k . The M2C is more of a want, not a need.
