My car is no more under warranty since last October (had a 3 years warranty).
This week BMW sent me an offer to extend the warranty for 2 more years until January 2026. It does cost CHF 1350.— (EUR 1250 or USD 1150).
The warranty covers things like the motor, the gearbox, the drivetrain, … but not the roof. BTW the warranty covers only if the car is stock (which it is).
I am not sure it is really worth the expense since the car has only 15k kilometers (9k miles) and I never pushed the car unless the motor oil was at the good temp.
I have to say that I plan to keep the car - at least until the next M2 CS is coming - and I will pay it off at the end of the leasing (September 2024).
The only thing which seems a bit unsure on this car is the roof… which can cost a lot. Too bad it is not covered by the extended warranty. I really hope that BMW will do something (like a « lifetime warranty ») if to many roofs are defective…

I don’t know anything about consumer warranties in Europe or elsewhere in the world but here in Australia they have changed consumer laws regarding their expiry and coverage.

Depending on the value of the goods an expressed warranty does not expire at the end of manufacturer warranty .
Basically here in Australia the item must be of sufficient quality and free of defects after the warranty .

So if you take a BMW M2 Cs and it’s value/cost at sale :
just because bmw states 3 year warranty (now five years in Australia from 2023 from memory with new cars sold) the consumer warranty does not expire on the BMW stated three year date .

Many new car dealers here don’t explain what the difference between Manufacturer Warranty and implied Federal Consumer Warranty.

Long story short Bmw here in Australia “are on the hook” for any roof manufacturing fault well after the stated Manufacture Warranty expiry !

In the UK there are three levels of cover, Comprehensive being the best ... it is priced at similar to your Euro quote BUT this is per year. Roadside Assistance - Recovery can be included if required

Our policies can also be taken with an excess (per claim) to reduce the annual premium

Suggest that you pursue the finer details

Eventually roof issue wasn’t covered by the extended warranty so I didn’t extend it…
I just saw that an another forum member is having problems with the CS roof…
