I think other folks who’ve mentioned forums in general being on the decline are partially correct, but IMO one of the biggest reasons the M2 forum in particular is dead is because most M2 owners are younger, first time BMW/sports car owners who mostly stick to social media. I have my M2 posted for sale locally and it still shocks me how many clearly non-car guys have hit me up. Completely different experience vs the various E chassis BMWs I’ve owned/sold over the years.

This x 10000

Forums were the shit 20, even 10 years ago. Us OGs remember how passionate users used to be and how it actually felt like a community. It's sad how different it is now.

Certain forums still are the shit. Subaru WRX/STi forums still more popular than ever and I'm active on there.

It's really just this one and others that lost popularity, not to mention M2's are very uncommon in general.

After a huge number of M2, and general forum members were banned for disliking the new m3/4...

I'd say it a given that people might simply avoid such a unfriendly environment

Honey has always worked way better than vinegar

That's my take on it

^^^^ It's a little crazy. I saw a mod mentioning "ban hammer" just because someone said the M3/M4 was ugly. I was not sure if they were serious with that or not. That's no way to behave at all if so.

He was obviously being facetious based on the trajectory of the subject. He wasn't going to literally ban anyone for merely speaking their mind..

That was a joke. Definitely.

For my personal view about the new M3/M4 design: see here and here.

People have easier access to car pages on Facebook. People are migrating there.

Those of us of a certain age (!) remember when pictures cost money to print. Now that they're free, they can be spread like peanut butter!

And posting pictures is easier than making intelligent commentary. (Not that much of any forum consists of that.). 8< ))

Not as many as you might think

Many people, including the youngest of demographics, aren't actually using Facebook

Really? Nasioc seemed dead the last time I checked, at least compared to 10-15 years ago when it seemed like it was at its peak. Unless they've all moved to different forums.

I knew someone would take this the wrong way. If you know anything about Artemis he's not one to ban or micromanage this subforum with the understanding that we are all adults. That's not to say it's your fault for misinterpreting it; lost in Internet translation. I've said it before and I'll say it again, he's the best moderator on all of bimmerpost. The good thing about F87 is most here are mature and so it rarely ever gets ugly like so many of the other subforums. Just viewing some of the other subforums makes me nauseous.

We are around. Believe me— I speak to several forum members and f8x owners that are in their early 20s.

It's crazy I was playing with hot wheels at 4 years old

I know quite a few actually but their fathers are also car guys

I've got a 20yo Nephew that would rather sit in front of his game consoles

Facebook has better ways of sucking people in. Forums don't generally constantly badger people with updates that are trailered specifically for them.

I didn't really start thinking seriously about fun cars until I was 27 maybe. Perhaps part of it is having the disposable income to make it worth while to think about what could be.

Many young kids saw my M2C and told their parents it's a 'cool ' car...

The first batch of Toyota GR Yaris, with a manual transmission only has been sold out over the world and a lot of them are young buyers!

A lot of Toyota Supra, WRX STi, BRZ/86 owners are in their 20s or younger...

Even my 7 years old nephew wants to sit in my 'racing' car all the time

Fast cars are timeless

I'm a bit surprised someone took it that way - I certainly didn't take it as serious (despite being the recipient of his joke ), and I didn't think you'd have to be at all familiar with Artemis in order to get that it was a joke.

I’m brand new to this forum (although lurking for months), so I’ll leave that for for you guys to debate. But this place seems almost too nice. Hehe
A flexible and indulgent approach is adopted over here in Bimmerpost M2 Land. Discussions can be spirited, even abrasive. Agree to disagree.

But those intoxicating the good atmosphere of respect and camaraderie with vicious behavior, name-calling, racism, repeated trolling and the like, usually get 'retired' (as Rick Deckard would say) from Bimmerpost.

Quite the opposite here in NorCal. I went to a meet a few weeks after I bought my M2C. There was a pre-meet in Daly City and I was surprised to see that most of the M owners and makes of other high-end cars were quite young, I'd say in their mid 20s - mid 30s. It made me feel so old.

For the love of Cars ‼️

It's great to see people of all ages enjoying and sharing their rides

Such a great passion that merges people from all walks of life, with drastically different backgrounds
