VA Residents: Tax ?

This is CS specific. Considering a move to the DMV. VA uses NADA Clean Trade I believe.

Are they doing it CS specific or is it just M2? What values are you guys paying?

Thanks in advance.

I'm guessing you're talking about annual personal property tax. None of us have paid it yet, the bills come in March. My bet is that they'll just use a 2020 M2 Comp as the value. Hell, if the insurance companies don't even know how that the CS is different, I can't imagine that the state of Virginia will.

And don't forget that if it's registered as a personal car, it will be eligible for Personal Property Tax Relief. I believe the relief is a 30% discount.

I'm in Richmond, where are you looking to move?

Some of us in the Northern VA area have paid already, in the Fairfax County. They were due at the beginning of October. I was told they use NADA guides and I’ve had them “guess” in the past when 997 GT3 were not in the guide and the tax amount was up and down for the first a few years. I’ve had to call to get it lowered once, because they increased it by more than 30%. I believe M2 CS is in it but I am not 100%. If it is in there, they will base it on the MSRP, in which case you can see what the taxable value was and appeal, if necessary.

Personal vehicle gets 35% discount up to $25,000 of the value. Here is a good explanation from Loudoun county, https://www.loudoun.gov/1619/Persona...rty-Assessment.

John, thanks for that clarification, looks like different localities have different due dates. Anyway, I just looked it up on the NADA guide that Virginia uses, and there is no CS listed, just the Comp. So that should help a bit!

Thanks. Looking at Fairfax County or Alexandria City. Oof taxes hurt, but we really love the area.

Move to the Maryland side. Same shit, same suburb, just on the other side of the river and no personal property taxes...
