Part of the family now

Picked up my car today that I ordered a few months ago. 2020 HS, DCT, blue stitching, exec, no moon roof. My first BMW!

Man photos and videos do not do this car any justice in person. I ordered it without seeing one or test driving first. So was pretty blown away when I saw it. Sounds great.

First time driving off, I took my foot off the brake and wondered why it didn't move lol. I'm used to cars that start rolling when you idle. Thought that was interesting. Stereo doesn't shut off when you turn it off and get out? Until locking it. I imagine there is a setting for that. Gotta learn the BMW quirks.

Went with a purchase instead of lease. Did add on the extended warranty to 7 years and maintenance. Figured that would be smart, but maybe not. When should I expect to have to do the brakes with moderate driving? Hope I made the right decision adding this, don't know what to expect with a BMW.

No decent pics yet, apologies.

Congrats! Press the start stop button once to turn off the engine. Press again to turn off the electronics. The dct takes a little getting used to especially when parking.

Yeah, you're going to love that feature at traffic lights. You can just let go of the brake and you'll be stationary.

Remember put in N, parking brake then big red button twice to get the car in park! Also, the brakes take getting used to. They bite really hard.

Break her in proper and remember, she's meant to be DRIVEN.

Thanks hah. Yeah the brakes are insane. Takes some finesse I've already found out with a huge bite right away. This is a special car. I bought her to drive and take care of. Hopefully for the long term.

You can just leave the car in drive and push the red start/stop button twice to park. I thought everybody does it that way with the DCT?

Thanks friends. I watched a bunch of YouTube videos before committing to the M2C. The thing that stood out to me the most was how giddy with excitement everyone driving it was. Now I know why.

The car is friggen awesome. After 30 years of 911’s I bought the M2C over the new 992.

Congratulations man! You're going to love it. Since you're going to keep her for a long time, I would suggest getting PPF and Ceramic Coating.

Thanks! That would be a great idea, another forum member already recommended someone here in Austin. The stock PPF is really noticeable on the rear fenders.

I got a warning this morning saying "Objects in the road", but there were no objects that I saw. Hmmm...

M-Car DCT goes into park no matter the gear or neutral when the engine is shut off. You don't need to put it into neutral.

Just shut off the engine.

Yes. be sure to press it a 2nd time if leaving it unlocked in your garage.

And I'll add for the DCT, D or N allows park to engage but if you use paddles and it stays in manual mode (showing 1,2,etc), be sure to tap the shifter to the right, back into D1 mode when shutting off.

The quirks and features....

Good highlights of the M2 Comp although I'll note its not an exhaustive list of what makes a BMW a BMW.

DCT tip.

You can activate creep mode of you are stationary then tap the gas sightly. It will move forward at the slowest speed it can without burning clutch.

No need to put it into D mode after being in Sequential.

If the engine is shutdown with DCT in either S, D or R, it will it directly go to P.

I'm on my third BMW with a DCT transmission, it has been this way since the e92 M3 in 2008.
