A tire on a narrow rim and on a wider rim will behave differently to side forces. Of course it will also depend on the tire carcass design... But think of the geometries like this (greatly exaggerated). This can possibly, depending on other things like camber, camber gain and whatnot, affect shoulder wear.

That has been the question I’ve been looking to answer. Do 265/30 on the front stock 9” wheels fit right? I know the F90’s came with 255’s but I’ve read threads where they started putting 265’s on the front & 295’s on the rear. I’ve seen several F87 owners post that it fits fine too. My goal is to remove all stretch in the tires.

But a slightly wider rim is better. Better steering response. And possibly (depending on a lot of other things) less shoulder wear when on racetrack. |

My setup worked out very nicely. No rubbing that I can see. So:
Front: TrofeoR 265/30-19 OEM 9" ET29 wheel plus 10mm spacer 3,1 degree camber Just very sligthly lowered to Öhlins Road & Track default setup Tire bulges a bit on the narrow rim, will swap to 10" ET40 plus wider spacer Rear: TrofeoR 295/30-19 OEM 10” ET40 wheel 2 degrees camber Just very sligthly lowered to Öhlins Road & Track default setup Tire sits very nicely on the 10" rim Great tires! Didn't actually have any tramlining on track either but the track surface was in good condition. Way more grip to put the power down out of second gear corners!! Car was slightly oversteered when the tires were cold and very very nicely balanced when they had heated up. Set new PB. |

2,3 to 2,4 bar. I didn't experiment with higher but will try on coming track meets.
The course we were at on sunday is a very special high speed slalom that is very very telling when it comes to your car's balance and tire performance, here's a video from my PB (and some swedish text about TrofeoR ) https://rejsa.nu/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1528494#1528494 EDIT: 2.3 to 2.4 bar equals aprox 33-35 PSI EDIT2: your 38-40 PSI would then be aprox 2.6 to 2.8 bar. That is extremely high IMHO. Well, 2.6 is not but 2.8 is Last edited by MagnusT; 06-04-2018 at 02:08 PM.. |

Ambient was 50-70F when I ran and had rained the night before. I was able to pull 1.1g with them consistently, tho, and wear looked good. |

I thought so too. But in the end it seems they are not. I measured actual widths:
NOT mounted on a wheel the 295 was crazy wide 325mm! But once mounted it had a total width of 297mm. Note that's total width of the whole tire, not the width of the contact patch. |

I am getting some Apex 18"x 9.5" ET 33 and currently have Ohlins ...but no camber plates. I am curious what is the max rubber I can run with spacers but no camber plates? The guys at Apex advised max of 245/40 18....but I was curious if I can't go up to either 255/40 18 or 265/35 18...does anyone have first hand experience with 18 inch max rubber with Ohlins and spacers?

I think you’d be ok with 265/35/18 and a 3-5mm spacer upfront, but I’d ask the broader audience in the other forum sections. |

Guys, I'm currently on stock wheel and RE71R. Performance is acceptable. But my issue is, 265 35 19 on rear is a little too tall and 265 on 10j is a little too stretched.
I'm thinking to upgrade rear wheel/tire to 19 10.5j and 295 30 19 to fix the issue. Will it rub with 20mm lowered MPS and stock camber? The exact tire I'm thinking to do is AD08R on 295 30 19. What else (size/brand) do you recommend? I don't want to go too extreme BTW. I noticed someone doing fine on 295 30 19 lowered. However OP mentioned TrofeoR rubs but that's really a 315mm tire. It'd be frustrating me end up buying 10.5j wheel and having to stick to 265 35 19, looking more stretched than it already does. Thanks!
