Secured my first-ever new BMW build

Yesterday, I finally secured my new 2021 M2 Competition build. The spec is:

- Hockenheim silver
- 6-spd manual
- orange stitching
- carbon fiber trim
- executive pack
- black wheels
- slicktop

I owned an AW 98 M3/4/5 and an AW 04 M3 manual coupe for many years. However, I bought those cars used and never actually got to configure my own, even though the e46 M3 was a slicktop, which was a rarity back in the day. Having said that, I owned only 3 BMW's in my lifetime and all 3 were ///M cars.

Given the M2 wheelbase length is nearly identical to the e36 M3, I'm excited. I considered the F80 M3 for a while. Then, I started looking into the Caymans, but both seemed overpriced, relatively speaking. I never imagined that for the price of a slightly used 2018 M3 with low miles, I could basically get a brand new 2021 M2. I know that it's apples and oranges, but to me, cross-shopping these vehicles made sense.

Congrats! Welcome to the 'anxiously waiting for delivery' crowd. If you're not already checking the production progress in your BMW online garage, you will be soon!

Wow, it won't arrive until November?! Wonder why so long.

I have the exact same build, but currently sitting at port in Germany. I have experienced the same waiting pain...

Congrats! Always exciting! I though about HS myself, beautiful color in person.

I am with you in the waiting crowd! Though I am doing European Delivery. But I use the term "doing" liberally since we all can't get out of the country.

Either way - it'll be fun!

Nope. Local deals were non-existent. Chicagoland area dealers are the biggest penny-pinchers in the nation. I got it from MS and it's a steal even after factoring in the cost to have it shipped.

Agreed. It can be rough with the local dealers
