The fact that S55 makes offensive sounds while getting worse fuel economy is just not convincing. As a daily driver for 99% of the time and on track for 1% of the time, making more pleasing sounds is 100 times more essential. I've done the math, too.
You considering the sounds offensive is not a fact, that is opinion. I have driven both, own neither, and would pick S55 every single time despite the sound (which I don't find offensive). The engine is just more eager and angry in the midrange. I think it's a better fit for an M model. That does not diminish or take away from the N55 M2, which is great on its own.

So I sat in the garage last night and compared the 2 seats. I'm 170lbs 5' 9", lean and muscle build. Driving the M2C, I felt I was sliding around and I never felt that way in my M2. Tinkering with the seat buttons, I found out that M2C bolsters do not tighten as much as M2 bolsters. M2C gives me about 1 inch of room on each side of my mid back in its tightest setting. M2 seats can actually get tighter than my size which makes sense why I was sliding around in the M2C.

I felt the same way of sliding when I had E46 M3. The seats looked great but it never grabbed me how a proper sports seats should grab you. My M2 or M235i or M240i seats do.

Not trying to say which car is better but I cringe every time I hear a M3/4 pass by me. No matter what exhaust they were fitted with, it sounds like something is clogged and all that air is trying to desperately escape.

I'm hoping they do better with the S58.

Weight is the key of any fun car.

My wife has a ford fiesta ST i drove the thing on a wet track. All i can say it was massive fun and i am far from fwd driver. I like rwd with lsd much more.

This fiesta has 200 hp and 1180kg. Massive fun on backroads and track.

New m2 should concentrate more on weight savings then on horsepower.

I rather have 300 hp and 1200kg m2 then a 1600kg and 450hp m2.

I agree, I was surprised at how little I enjoyed driving the new M5 on the track despite it being clearly faster than the M4 I had driven a few minutes before.
