Goodbye to M2

Waved goodbye to my 16 M2 DCT with MP suspension yesterday. It had done 13,000 km and been a great daily driver. Sold to a friend and I was sad to see it go as it drove away. I really enjoyed the car as a total experience, driving, washing, and just looking at it. Never failed to brighten up my day arriving at the carpark after work and seeing it. It seemed to generate a connection that I never felt with an M4 after driving that for 2 days at the Nordschleife.

I didn't track it as there are other race/rally prepped cars for that.

I decided that life is short and its time to push the boat out further and a gt3rs arrives end May. It will be interesting to see if I think its too hard out to drive most days. Time will tell...Hopefully I don't discover that I'm really a marshmellow and have to buy a DD car back again.

Oh man! You've gotta post pics of your Porsche when you get it! Congrats on the one you've got coming!

Also want to say, especially since mine is still so new to me, that it was nice to hear how much you really did enjoy your M2 while you had it. Better than hearing how you couldn't wait to get rid of it or that you had all kinds of problems.

thx. I wasn't tempted for a moment to trade to M2C when that came out, and already had deposit down when the CS was announced.

Excellent replacement.
Can you please elaborate a bit more on the M2? Issues? Have you taken it to any twisty roads? Fuel consumption? Oil consumption?

Thanks and good luck

Wait... a daily driver that is almost 3 years old with only 13,000km? Exactly how short IS your commute?

Exactly! I took delivery of my M2 exactly one year ago tomorrow and it has over 13k miles on it.

No issues. did a few trips on back roads and found the MP suspension was a bit to stiff in standard form set up causing the tires to slightly skip across the surface under braking. This bear in mind is in comparison to the Subaru tarmac rally car with a 3 way adjustable remote reservoir cannisters running flat out on closed roads. But on smoother roads the 10mm rake in the set up( standard car runs flat) seems to cut understeer. No oil consumption. Fuel consumption depends entirely on how you drive it. with spirited driving the fuel tank is a bit small I think.

Haha yes commute is only about 6km and wife runs an X5 so can use that when more space needed. Then tarmac rally car and Caterham replica for hobbies to so no need to run M2 on trackdays etc.

So a few road trips were the main thing putting kms on the car

Thanks for the detailed info!
As for fuel consumption, this is not my concern
I agree that the fuel tank is too small. I assume they did it to reduce weight.

SConn wanted a pic so after some delay here it is. Delivered at the end of May and now has 1650km on the clock - dealer says 3000km running in so haven't gone much past 5000rpm yet.

This pic taken when the car was sent to get wrap and ceramic.

The car is very mechanical in feel coming from both the diff and the grearbox. Suspension is hard from a very stiff spring rate. Probably too hard for bumpy back roads and more set up for track, and that's with shocks in soft setting.

On start up the PDK program changes up early but if you pull the paddles the change is instant - real fast - unlike comfort mode in M2. I haven't found it too hard for commuting and daily use which is good although Mrs would rather take the comfort of her X5.

Absolutely beautiful! Love that color too! If you have any more pictures, I'd sure love to see them!

I test drove a 911 a couple weekends ago. Didn't pull the trigger, but I'm definitely going Porsche next. My upgrade won't be quite as extreme as yours though 🤣

Have a blast with that thing!! So jealous!

I'm so jealous in all of you. Moving from an M2 to a 911 (Let's not even mention to a gt3rs )
Here the M2C starts at 165K usd and the cheapest 911 starts at 282K usd. A gt3rs will be around 510K usd.

These are price differences that one can't handle

Congrats. It's a real beauty!!

A couple more pics then, to show it is driven rain or shine, and lighter than factory BBS Motorsport rims for track. Nicely machined holes.

I'm glad to hear that you loved your M2, as I picked mine up just over a month ago and am loving it very much. Congrats on the super epic new GT3RS!
