$80k MSRP AW LCI rolling on 763's....?

if you check Braman BMW's (West Palm Beach FL) online inventory, you will find a AW LCI rolling on 763's with a sticker of $80,600. Looks like it has MPE with carbon fiber tips.

just curious as to how such a car came to be?

Did the dealer spec it out like that? Or did someone order it and backout? Or did the dealer just raid the parts department for everything they could possibly stick on it?

Not sure if it has a market adjustment since there is no picture of the window sticker..which it hopefully shouldn't.

But I want to say they probably ordered the car with every option and accessory available......which isn't very smart on their part...I've seen plenty of cars sit on lots for ages when spec'd like this example.

Supply vs Demand!

If they don't ask, the answer is no.

Other dealers did this as well. Ordered cars with every conceivable option added on. BMW in Salt Lake City has one over $80K:

Since some cars happen to keep more value and for longer, it's a good thing to consider when purchasing.

Probably should be closer to 70-72k.
Missing carbon fiber diffuser and some interior components.

I mean, if money was no object, why wouldn't you get a Cayman, 911, Huracan, or M3/M4/M5 depending on what you want the car for.

If you plan to drive the car until it dies, then sure.

You've hit on the reason M Performance parts actually suck. Now the BMW dealer can load up every car they order with overpriced parts which actually have a ton of margin.

Of course they do.

People with money buy all kinds of things.

And adjusted market value is the last of their concerns.

I guess... IMO if you are wealthy enough to light $20k on fire without flinching then I don't know why you wouldn't have spent that $20k on a Porsche in the first place. The M2 is a value proposition.

Eh - not everybody wants the “mid-life crisis” or “must be compensating for something” connotation that can come with driving a Porsche. Driving a car that is a little under the radar and a value proposition can be appealing to people who can easily afford a more expensive car.

With that said, spending $80k on an M2 is silly.

It's West Palm beach, which two part town. Once you cross the bridge after passing down town your in the billionaire block. When I was shopping for a 15, F80, SA told me people in west palm have money to buy this dealership, hence they didn't budge from MSRP. So it's true people with money would not care about depreciation.

From the BMW of SLC online ad for this car:

Quote:
The new 2018 BMW M2 answers the call for upgraded luxury. You get all this in the 2018 BMW M2 for $80,300. With only 11 miles on it, this vehicle is set to explore more. Its a i6 Black Sapphire Metallic car that makes commuting to and from work a little less stressful. Interested in this car? Visitus to schedule a time to test drive the 2018 BMW M2.

I know plenty of people that can comfortably afford huracans etc but decide to purchase ordinary cars like the 3/4 series instead.

They tend to buy whatever they want, it might be an m4 one year, then an aston the next. What they dont do though, is pay more than what everyone else pays, they seem to hate that, just like the rest of us

That’s definitely not true - not everyone with lots of money wants to be flashy with 100k+ cars - lots of people with old money who buy based on fun not flash

Obviously the price is high because the car has addons like the wheels, 763m alone are like 7k for the set

If you were to addon theae upgrades like exhaust, suspension etc, you can see why the price is higher?

My question was how did a car like that came to be?.... Either someone decided to spec it out that way, or the dealer just went to their parts department and grabbed every add-on M part available.

Either way, seems strange to turn an '18 into an $80k car when you have have new '19 M2C's arriving. I would think that is going to be a difficult car to sell.

Not everyone wants a flashy car, but a standard 911 is not flashy at all, for example. I understand people want what they want- but I still think the M2 doesn't really make a lot of sense at that price. I think you can get more fun for the $80k, too.
