1 week in, omw to the dealer to fork over the $ for the car and

I am approaching a light and all of a sudden a huge squealing sound emanates from what appears to be the front or rear wheel, hard to tell. across from the dealer, incredible. anyhow I pull into service with the car making this sound and the 3 guys lounging around outside at a check-in kiosk respond we don't hear anything and start laughing. pretty funny, had to laugh myself. anyway they took the car, I was escorted inside, introduced to a service advisor, he inserted my key into a reader and said it was probably a pebble in the rotor but asked if I would I like to have the 1st service done. car has slightly less than 600mi on it. I said why so early and he said that is what the computer is suggesting based on age (birth month aug, dont know the week) and my driving the car for a week. I am thinking huh, all that from a key. I later find via the net that bmw stores a ton of data on the key, more than any car manufacture. I ask how long and he says about 1hr. fine. The dealer is super professional and together, I am impressed. the entire experience with has been terrific. they bake their own cookies for the wait area! lol. Oh, I LOVE this car - feels like home, a perfect fit. Best thing that happened to me is audi not offering a manual anymore.

my questions are;

how often does the rock & rotor issue crop up

is doing the first service at 600 mean I should toss new oil and a filter at it myself @ 600-1200mi mark just to be sure - I own the car btw

has everyone but me known about all the data they store on the key

Thx!

May not be able to help with this question, but I saw you mention you purchased this car because Audi doesn't make a manual transmission car anymore. I hate to be the one to tell you this, but they do on several models, maybe just not the car you wanted?
