Point is it's not the car. it's the driver.

I've seen it on the motorcycle community where a good rider (not even at a pro level) smokes an average skilled riders on much smaller engines and crappier tires. Same thing goes on with car community when we hit up the mountains.

I agree that OG M2 is holding its value. Friend was recently looking for a slightly used M2 LCI MT but they are up there at around $50k (only 3 were avail in MT in the 500mile radius as of Sept 2019) so he ended up ordering a new C. Also to note, there are a lot more used DCTs on the market, meaning they are cheaper and easier to get than MT.

The M2C was never going to kill the resale value of the OG M2. When 4+ years pass then prices will start to go down more gradually due to the warranty. You saying that you like the your M2 more than the M2C is irrelevant.

the low supply of m2s in general and the crap m2c leases will probably keep m2 value relatively steady versus a m3/m4. You can lease a m4 cs cheaper then a m2c and m4 cs is twice the price compared to a m2c.

It's not irrelevant, it's all that's relevant with such a car. We're not talking about a Honda Accord here, we're talking about a toy, and people buy toys for the love of it.

Yes it is irrelevant because you and I were talking about resale value, which has nothing to do about your opinion about others thinking the OGM2 is a better car than the M2C.

I've been in the canyons with modded OG M2s. The M2C has a lot more torque which many people overlook. In the canyons it is all about torque. You need acceleration between the twisties. It is impressive how the M2C pulls away in those situations.
It pulls away while making offensive noises (canyon wall fart echos).

I'm looking to buy a used M2C (Belgium), where did you find all these?
I asked my local garagist to look out for some used ones but nothing so far

Many discounted new BMW M cars were publicly listed through this link on the Belgian BMW website.

However, I noticed that the list was recently reduced to only 4 cars. But I still know where the previously promoted M cars are located.

Give it a shot:
  • Google "BMW" + a Belgian dealer name
  • on the BMW dealer welcome page, scroll all the way down to the section "Nos voitures de stock. Vers notre offre" / "Onze stockwagens. Naar ons aanbod"
(alternative: simply add "/node/25" to the welcome webpage)
  • choose "BMW M" in the dropdown menu "Modèles" / "Model" to narrow down the search results + "Recherche" / "Zoeken"
  • et voilà.
I just sent you a PM to help you out finding previously promoted M2 Competition dealer cars.

Starting at 14:14, this is a video of a drag race between OG M2 and M2C, I don't see that much of a difference.

I'm not questioning your experience of pulling away from OG M2's, but maybe it has more to do with the driver, not the car.

The torque curve is very different between the 2 cars, er N55 vs S55.
S55 doesn’t do the stump-pulling torque at 1,400rpm like the N55. A lot of that has been tuned out of it.

Not my picture, thread is linked HERE.

OG M2 is no slouch, but these dynos show how much more potent the S55 is than the N55. I don't know what's up with the above video, especially since I don't speak their language, but the Comp should definitely pull hard on the OG. Also, general consensus is that the OG M2 dyno in the picture is high at 354/398. Most I see make 330-340 wheel. Nonetheless, the S55 has much greater potential for tuning (in stock form) compared to the N55.

The M2C loves to rev. It pulls like a freight train to red line. If you add a $550. tune and nothing else you can get over 500 HP and over 500 ft lbs of torque. Guys that try to pull those numbers out if an OGM2 spend thousands and thousands on mods to even attempt those numbers.

I'm just stirring the pot. Honestly, I would be happy with either car. I have an LCI and it makes me smile. I would smile if I had an M2c as well. I dont track my cars and the difference between the two on the road is negligible to us mere mortals that dont have Randy Pobst blood running through us. For a few thousand bucks I did a tune, downpipe, exhaust, IC and charge pipe...and the car is overwhelming its tires. I dont need any more.
