I decided against the OG since it was white. Decided against the comp as I like the character of the OG more, and can get a no maintenance OG for $44k. The S55 has crank hub, 60k needs brakes, etc don't have the patience to deal with that stuff.
OG listed today with 6k miles for 44k but its fully stock. I had a Dinan on my previous OG that is a MUST have for me, stock was too tame so then I'm upper 40's with a Dinan, tune, and upgraded steering wheel (I hate the mod bug) so I'll need to wait for a bit more. Maybe they'll take 41k cash we shall see I'm in the minority, where I want a black or gray OG manual. Making it VERY hard to be patient. It seems like 99% of OG's for sale are white or LBB DCT's. I'm trying to talk myself into the DCT as they are plentiful but the manual really makes the M2 exciting to drive daily. Patience... patience...

I ended up buying a 17 OG black with 12k miles. It has every option, $70k sticker. Paid $41,500. I decided against any comp due to the S55 sound and I don't really need the power.
Next decision is to keep the MPE or swap for Dinan. MPE sounds good, but the drone really bugged me. Dinan provides more sound in cabin with zero drone. We shall see...

Congratulations. Check all the MPE mounting points. Maybe I am lucky but my MPE has zero drone. But I had drone until I installed the ASD bypass harness. (It was a fake drone by ASD).

Would have to be the Competition for me. S58 is the best M engine for me at present (sound aside), and the Comp updates really made the the car what it should have been from the start.
I nearly bought one, but it was too small for family duties. |

LOL. Comp has an S55 engine not an S58. S58 is the best current M2 engine but only found in the G series.

I have serious drone at 3k, but love the exhaust otherwise.

Even though it lacks an S in its engine code the N55 in the M2 is built by ///M, and has all the internals straight from the S55 lol

The ignorance goes on. The most love 1M also doesn’t have an S engine but has always sold for over MSRP.

I don't have anything against a "non-M" engine. But given the suite of improvements on the Competition, it just makes sense to take it. Particularly here in Germany where the price difference is often not that great. OGs are massively overpriced here, but then again so are all BMWs with a decent engine. |

As for it being a real M engine, the purists will complain more than me about the non-S designation, but for similar money, I would take the S55. |

e36 m3 owner chiming in as this debate is reminiscent of the US/Euro motors.
despite the designation, the m2 n55 has more components from the s55 than not; making it a bespoke engine in itself. Keep in mind that competition/CS only went to an s55 because the n55 would no longer be world-wide emission compliant. As to why it didn't have an "S" designation to begin with doesn't matter considering the e36 US m3 motors had an "S" designation but was just a bored an stroked m50/m52 motor big deal. |

I don’t like the hate from the M2C crowd for the OG M2 because it doesn’t have an S engine. Let’s live together happily. Both variants of the M2 are great cars.
