2M Autowerks | F87 M2 GTS Hood – Potential Group Buy

Gauging interests for the recently released F87 GTS hood by 2M Autowerks. These guys have offered a GTS style hood for the F80/F82 for a while now and have just come out with a version for the M2, and, in my research have one of the fitments available

I have reached out to 2M and they are willing to do a group buy ($100 off the prices below) if we can get at least five orders in at the same time. To be clear, I have no affiliation with the company, just trying to get a good deal for myself and others

If interested, PM me and I will keep track of interest!

Full FRP: $1495
Carbon fiber bottom / FRP top: $1795
Double-sided carbon fiber: $1995

I think there are a lot of better prices for similar options. Most popular being the suvneer alum hood.

I hear you. IMO Suvneer is the next best option and is for sure better priced, but from what I've seen, often the top most portion of the panel seam where the hood meets the top of the fender (closest to the windshield) is inconsistent with the rest of that same panel seam (down the side of the hood). Maybe that goes unnoticed by most but not my OCD

You can see in the 3rd pic, in that area in question, the 2M hood panel seam is consistent throughout.

I know exactly what you're talking about. I've been eyeing a gts hood for quite some time but due to fitment and storage of the stock hood, it's hard to pull the trigger at the moment

I'm in the same boat tbh. Was looking to get a Suvneer hood but the storage, fitment, and ppf hassle has me hesitating as well. If you can share some more photos on the car and up close of the weave, I would strongly consider being apart of this group buy.

Spoke to 2M again and they are still awaiting production units hence the pictures are of the prototype unit - would guess that's what the smudge is related to in the third pic

Sharing additional pics of the prototype they shared with me + video of a production carbon fiber unit for an F80:

Whats the weight of the Fiberglass only and Fiberglass/Carbon versions? I love the idea of FRP because unlike aluminum, it won't ding.

The hood looks great both fit and finish but I think it is quite difficult for someone to assess based on manufacturer photos. Of course one would think they will only take pictures after adjustments, etc. and there is a good chance the production units will not come out of the box with the exact same fitment. Without real customer reviews and pictures of fitment it makes it a tough sell for me. That being said I hope a few brave souls get on this and we see some better fitting options as I would love a GTS/CS style hood.

I got the full double sided carbon gts hood... love it. Completely changes the look of the car and puts it to a different level. However, I ended up painting it alpine white to match the rest of the car before wrapping the car in satin smoldering red, sometimes I wish I just left the carbon exposed... sigh.

FWIW, they say the pictures posted above are before any adjustments. I will be taking the plunge either way, as I'm sold on the quality from their F80/F82 units that they've been producing for a while now, so I will be sure to post up with a review once I finally have it and fitted. Just hoping to get a few others that have also been waiting to pull the trigger on a GTS hood in on a deal if possible!

I've updated the video of the production cf F80 hood in post #8 to be embedded for easier viewing. Think it's safe to say that this is pretty representative of what the production F87 would look like in terms of quality/ finish

I would also suggest anyone on the fence check them out on instagram (@2m_autowerks). They have quite the following and I think their work speaks for itself

That does look pretty good so far. The only thing that bothers me on these GTS hoods is where it meets the front bumper. Every hood I've seen so far does not follow the small curves in the bumper line. It doesn't bother me enough that I wouldn't buy one but it bothers me enough that I would put this purchase on the back burner.

Your pictures show pretty good fitment so far but I would need to see more.

You’ve got my interest. I would prefer this over the Chinese options.

Sorry, I haven't been checking this thread regularly. Once the hood is production ready (still don't see it listed on their site), I will reach out to everyone who has expressed interest to confirm if we have enough interest for the group buy
