MST N55 Turbo Inlet pipe

The other pipes have their own threads so thought why not start one for the MST pipe.
Received it the other day and it is well made.
Bought as equal to or slightly better than the pure pipe from some users testing, was cheaper too.

My digital calipers have gone walk about but it's well known the ID anyway. I went for V2 hybrid turbo as still compatible with stock turbos but maintains largest possible ID at the interface.

I installed the mst tube last week and very satisfied, it had the pure v2 screwless inlet and was constantly coming out from the turbo ... I think mst is the best inlet there is. We will see the passage of time.

How hard was it to fit?

It is not difficult, but inlet pure without screw always ends up leaving the turbo ... Better inlet with screw.

That's simply not true.

Had pure inlet "wo screw" on my jb4'd m135i and again on my bm3'd m2 - zero. issues only positives

Did you guys fit this V2 in stock turbo or upgraded turbo? I'm having a hard time fitting the V2 on stock without rubbing on the fan

Ya the radiator fan. My car is sitting at the dealership being worked on right now and they're having issues fitting it. Here's a pic showing how tight the pipe sits even without the fan in place:

I'm being told by Mike from extreme PH that the V1 is the one to go with for stock turbo. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they'll be able to make it fit somehow.

I hope others who have been able to fit in the V2 on stock turbo can chime in here

No. They are the same size tube, but the connection is different. The V2’s inlet bore is larger, and actually was determined to be one of the best inlets. There is no reason to drop down to the V1, you can just exchange it for a Pure V3 unit at worst.

Good, it should have fit. Interested in your impressions - did you do the turbosmart unit at the same time?

Yep! Did turbosmart DV, 5' VRSF FMIC, ER charge pipes and boost pipe, MST turbo inlet tube, and Fabspeed high flow sports cat all at once.

I will pick it up tomorrow and post my impressions then

This is why I bought the V2 do glad to hear it was a good choice!
I'm doing turbosmart plumback, intercooler (Do88) and forge CP all at once.

Contemplating before and after dynos but not sure I should expect to see anything?

At least with after any issues with boost leak would be apparent and the dyno is right next to my installer!

Of course you should dyno, why wouldn't you?! I would have your MHD/BM3 hooked up to log the run. That way you can troubleshoot if needed.

Unfortunately no before logs. It's still stock tune but will be doing stage 2 BM3 soon

Definitely interested in dyno numbers I'm pretty much in the same boat as you - doing all the supporting mods (minus the inlet and DV, which I may do soon) before I tune in the future when my warranty runs out. Would be interesting to know if any power is gained without a tune!

Picked up the car and with all the mods, I can say there isn't a huge difference but the turbo is a lot livelier and less turbo lag and my butt dyno feels a little improvement. Overall I'm very happy with all the mods knowing that its now FBO and ready for a stage 2 tune

I don't have BM3 account just the app on my phone

Tuned my previous car but prospect of a blown N55 block scares my finances sh*tless, usually I'm of the opinion to be prepared to or be able to afford whatever goes wrong to a car resulting from a tune.

In catastrophic N55 failure that is significant

Ya I feel exactly the same way. I used to think BM3 was pretty safe but after some posts here with people blowing their engine with a tune im being a bit of a chicken. Mind you I still think BM3 is pretty damn safe and an issue with it very rare. Other factors may have played an issue in those engines blowing
