The 1M was a one off car and the S55 wasn't in production. I understand what you're saying, but to me it's about buying the best of what the new engine technology and advances have been. The S55 is a pretty amazing engine and is completely new using better engine design vs. the N54/N55. I don't think it will hurt the M3/M4 sales as there is a different buyer of a 2 series vs. a 3/4 series.

+1 Im on the list for the M2, but on the fence pending further details. If there was no M2 I wouldnt buy an M3/M4. Even at the same price point, or with more power, etc etc. My money would just go elsewhere.

Can't use a de-tuned for obvious reasons. If they did, people would tune in and it would destroy M3/M4 sales. There would be no reason to buy an M4, when you can spend less money get a lighter car with the same engine and get better performance.
Fixed.

M3 is for us poor souls that haul around others/kids regularly. Or really don't like the long coupe doors

Except for the 1M it went...

This is a one off car and the N55 is coming... isn't that the better motor? Why can't BMW make it SPECIAL and bring back the S54....that was the BEST MOTOR EVER... why don't they use that? or.. wait.. The S65 is still in production..... I don't think it will hurt the M3 sales as there is a different buyer of a 1 series vs. a 3 series.

And of course the old and tired..

I'm not gonna get an M2.. it's just an M235 with a body kit and a tune..

it was..

I'm not gonna get a 1M.. it's just a 135 with a body kit and a tune..

Apparently... MANY BMW fans are DOOMED to repeat the same mistakes... Doesn't say much for the intelligence of the average bimmer fan..

I agreed with him to buy the dealer demo car (HEA car = Handler-Erst-Ausstattung). So my car needs to be on display at the dealer for one weekend for the official reveal and reception of the M2. I can drive it home Sunday evening.
He couldn't give me an exact date yet, but his BMW order screen stated the production is set for February 2016. Normally it takes about two to three weeks for a new car to get from Germany to Belgium. So I estimate somewhere around the beginning of March I will get my M2. I will check with him from time to time to see if the date changes. You'll be the first to know!
Congrats, you early adopter.

This is great news,I didn't want the M2 to have the adaptive suspension anyway. This means that the car will come with a very firm sport suspension.

I know it's been said a lot around here - they wouldn't want to hurt sales of the M3/M4, but let's put it into perspective: they might produce 10,000 for the US over the next few years. Translation: they could put the M5 engine in there and it wouldn't hurt M3/M4 sales. People will try to buy one, not be able to because daddy fat sacks is willing to line a sales person's pockets with an extra $5,000 over MSRP and everyone else will have to go buy an M3 anyway.

The S55 could cause the price to go up... in theory anyway. I am still curious to see what this car prices at, but the M2 is just going to be the M235i of your dreams. Kind of... except you can't get it in Sahkir Orange or Monte Carlo Blue. :P

Good question. With 18s on the M235i, I can drive around in Sport all day long. Every now and then I put it in comfort if I'm a really crappy road and have passengers. On 19s and in a part of the world that gets a lot of snow, those 437s are going to be put to the test.

This is a Euro options list. BMW package STD and option groups completely differently in the US.

Officially confirmed, no. Even this list isn't "officially confirmed", because it's leaked. It's official, but not confirmed.

Official: means it came from BMW.

Confirmed: means BMW have published it to the public.

The M2 engine code was obtained from leaked documents long ago, and many publications have run with it. The code is N55B30T0. If you search the forum, you'll find lots and lots of discussion.

Interesting to see that it will have the same 19" wheels as the M3/4. They will probably have 18" wheels as std for the us market.

Nope. All final stage mules that have been testing in the US, ever single one, used 19 inch M4 wheels.

To me that doesnt make sense for pricing reasons as the 19" wheels are a $1200 option for the M3/4 in the US. I guess it isnt out the question for bmw to continue to piss some of their customers off even more as they offer std LED headlights on the 340i, while charging $2k for the M3/4 (i know the $2k gets you adaptive, but not enabled without coding in the states).

My E46 M3 has 19 inch wheels and I have no problem driving the car everyday.I like the firm suspension setup on my car and that is what I want on the M2.My car used to have the factory 18's and then I put on the 19 inch competition package wheels.I really didn't notice that big of a difference in the ride,as far as feeling bumps but the handling of the car was improved.

I'm pretty disappointed but I knew it was coming. 2 series seats and not even a CF roof option. I need a reveal of this car including interior ASAP to finally makeup my mind on this car.
